MOST Intimidating EDC folder

Or the mugger might think "hey, why take the chance?" and shoot the one with the visible pocket sword dead on the spot. No warnings, no mercy, a corpse does not resist and is easy to loot. Just saying... Things won't necessarily follow the course you predicted.

I don't think I would pull out a 2 inch folder either in a mugging scenario. A mugger wants whatever money you have on you at the time. For that petty amount of cash I will not risk getting injured. I'd much rather throw them the 20 or 50 bucks I have in a money clip and be done with it. YMMV.

Yeah I agree. That's why I added many types of bad guys. You also can't assume that everyone is logical and just wants your money. I was speaking on the premise that they didn't have a gun, cause that kind of negates the whole point of this thread: you won't be intimidated by a knife if you have a gun. Kind of a mixed premise there.

I would personally face a man/woman with a gun than a man/woman with a knife. There is some skill involved with the use of a firearm. Anyone can pick up any knife and do damage to someone if close enough. No training involved. Just start stabbing and slashing.

More skill than a knife? I figure you just 'point & shoot'(especially if it's a revolver). Most have been doing it since we were kids playing cowboys & indians.
Anyone here ever play "knife fight to the death" when they were kids?(on second thought maybe I'm asking this in the wrong forum) :D:foot:

Believe it or not, I have seen many guys on the firing line 3 feet from the target and miss. I am sure if you put a knife in their hand they would be able to stab or slice the target. And that is a no stress, day qualifing on the range. And these are supposed to be trained uniform personnel. So yeah, I think a knife could be worse than a gun. I mean how many criminals go out and practice thier shooting skills? Well besides maybe a drive by or something :D

This seems pretty intimidating...

Well yeah, the premise of the thread is kind of ridiculous in realistic dialog. The premise is fine when you are academically speaking of "the MOST intimidating designs, while still being practical to carry", when you transfer that into the realm of prac-tac/self defense things get pretty iffy. For self defense you are escalating things into the realm of lethal force while not using lethal force... Basically giving the bad guy a ready made defense for shooting you, and surrendering the initiative giving him time to act. You are shooting yourself in the foot both legally and practically. If you are using that knife to illegally threaten people, well you still have the same problems only they are more pronounced.

We are getting off topic. The spyderco p'kal is pretty scary too.

You don't need much training to kill someone with a firearm. Same goes for a knife. Beyond opportunity, the difference is in the reach of each tool. Can you cut me with a knife from 20+ feet away? Good luck if you can't throw your knife like you're out of some movie.

Using a knife for intimidation's sake is just stupid, very unlikely to have the desired effect. I'd say the most intimidating folders are the ones in the hands of people who want to hurt others.

I disagree from experience, but that doesn't matter for this thread. I'm pretty good with keeping logical discourse without getting heated so if you would like totals further email or pm me. I wouldn't mind discussing further.

If a bad dude pulled a clinch pick on me I would be scared, cause I would assume he ha training. I guess you could use a clinch pick for edc....

But I'm sticking with my good old native!

You wanna scare the bejeebus outta people. Skip the silly big coated folders with skulls on them and all kinds of extraneous pointy design elements. They look like accessories from a Klingon on Batman costume.

You want to terrify? Wave this sucker around!

A Hello Kitty boxcutter?!? Somebody packin' that? You don't want any part of that. That dude is crazy. He just don't care.
