Most no-nonse utilitarian blade you own.

I dont have an Opinel, but i read that they have made a modification to the locking ring, they have added a grove that the ring runs in and now you can only turn the right one way to lock, but it`s supposed to make the lock more secure, So old and new stock will be available if it makes any difference to you.

Yes, there were a couple of threads on the new locking ring design.

Ive popped the locking rings on the Opinels, that I have, so merely noted it in passing.

There is no definition of ugly. It is an opinion.

It doesn't matter if you "don't see how one could find them ugly"...he does.

Here is why I thought my Gator was ugly :) (excuse the bad image quality , i dont own a fancy camera yet)

Usually a Gator Blade folder on person.

In my car I use a Gerber Strong Arm with the serrations, I found I don't like serrations so I keep it in the car incase I need to do some seat belt cutting and glass breaking. I also found its great for getting heavy ice off the windshield and the shallow breaker for getting ice off the window shield wipers. It moves from front seat to back seat when not in the glove box or counsel. So it found its nitch. The straight blades I use pretty much as a light belt knife in the woods. I ordered the BDZ-1 model for a non coated version.
