Hands down, it has got to be the Spyderco Southard. Nothing special to it, it is foreign made and costs more than numerous knives that out perform it.

Like what? How long have you had your Southard and how does it lack in performance? Which models do you consider better value for the same materials and f&f?

What other production knives are you saying out preform it? I don't personally own 1 but I've seen numerous people say its their favorite production flipper. Also spyderco is a great company that uses high end material where you will spend more.

I personally think it is a bit overpriced at around $250-$300 that I've seen a few places. If it were in the $100-150 price range it would be a good deal. The style of it isn't everyone's cup of tea. Wether it be blade shape or its asymmetries with the clip side being thicker or the titanium on one side and g10 one the other. It is however a nice piece, just for me I don't know if the price is warranted.

NILLOC.........

Go buy one; try it out and then come back and talk to us.
I bought two. Great folder, great materials and blade-steel, wonderful flipper, easy to carry, CHEAP price.

I don't own one. I think it's ugly. I would love to see how the bearing feels while flipping it, though.

There are a ton of things that don't appeal to me about the Southard, but overhyped? Maybe a little, but not nearly to the same level as a number of other knives. Let's face it, there are some models that generate accusations of trolling when people simply ask for advice on a problem they have with it, and you'd better be wearing a flame retardent suit if you actively criticize those knives or makers. Not even close to the most overhyped knife out.

Used my BIL's for about a week. Ergos suck. Blade wasn't that great for normal tasks.

Just felt like an overpriced knife to me.

Agree. And what is with the "discuss"? We aren't in high school. Okay, most of us aren't.

Anything in Benchmade's catalog will out perform it.

This just wrong not to bash benchmade but their flipper is by far sub-par to the southard
And keep in mind the southard is a collab getting something directly from brad would cost much more

Really? I've bought and probably will continue to buy just about anything with an axis lock, but I have to call bs on this claim. The Southard is a very nice knife. Over-hyped? Maybe. Inferior to everything in Benchmade's catalog? That's a ludicrous claim.

I can get behind folks calling the Southard ugly. IMO, the stock scale and goofy hole in the blade make an otherwise gorgeous knife into something of a fugly duckling. Claiming it's junk, though? That's just weak troll-work, IMO.

I'll call... :D

What information do you have to determine this? Testing, links, etc...?

*please don't link that horrible Nutnfancy vid...

I work for the USFS. I use knives daily....way more than most here. My information is called "real life experience".

ill play I say sage 1 $119 for a non us knife with g10 scales and a carbon fiber sticker or( very thin layer glued to g10) for the same money you could get a para 2.

Not in my opinion. Benchmade uses 154cm in most of their knives which doesn't even compare to the steel the Southard uses. I've owned several benchmades and never been all that impressed. The Southard however is worth all the hype.
