I guess we come to this point: where does hype come from: users, or the manufacturer? If users fall in love with a particular knife and talk about in on Youtube or on this forum, kinda hard to criticize. You can disagree, but each user presents his own experience. Some exaggerate the attributes of a knife, but hey, that's love. You are blind to the flaws.
And manufacturers promote their goods at trade shows, but once users get their hands on the product, reality sets in pretty quickly.
I have not held a Southerd, so have no opinion on that knife. Spyderco usually makes good products, though. In my experience.
