Most overhyped knives?

Anthing from Strider, CRK, and Busse.
Also, TOPS and ESEE are rediculous. $100 or more for 1095 and boxy screwed-on scales? No thanks. I can get an Ontario RAT for less cash. Or better yet, I'll get a Becker. Decent price and better ergonomics.

Well, I am off to look up images of this Southard. It was a knife that was not on my radar at all, but because of this thread, I am now interested.

Brad is a good guy. It is good to support good guys with good designs and innovations in this industry...but only if you like their offerings.

No one need boast about what they like or dislike, but it's nice when people are complimentary of time and effort investment. Having worked on more than a few knives and designing a handful of my own...I can tell you it's not as easy as some might think.

And there is probably no single product that EVERYONE will agree on...that is why there are so many brands and variations of toilet paper ;)

LOL, I just did the same. And from the looks of it, it is one hell of a nice folder. Titanium frame lock on one side, G10 on the other. Have no clue about the steel, but I know that whatever Sal uses can only be good. I may just get one, thanks to OP for calling this nice knife out.

When you buy a foreign made knife, you support slave labor and human rights abuse.

Also, a steel is only as good as the company that produces it

I have used cts-204p in three different knives. In my southard, in my MT UT, and in a custom of mine. I have used all three a great deal, and I would rate spyderco's at the top. The ergo's on it also surpass most higher end knives. Thats what you get when you have a collab with an awesome maker.

Hinderer, for sure.

And, uh -- I'm not so sure on the "slave labor" and "human rights abuse". . . not every foreign country is the PRC or North Korea. (and no, Taiwan is not the PRC).

[looks like this thread may be approaching its death knell..]

Where's my popcorn? In before the lock myself. It's only a matter of time before these people who watch nutnfancy on youtube every time he makes a friggin video go out and hurt themselves or even get killed because of some of the advice the guy gives, If people are gonna watch his videos they need to take it for what it is hes a normal human being with opinions and we all know what opinions are like, nothing wrong with watching his channel but what eerks me is when people take what he says as the gospel and then come on places like this and repeat what he says in one of his videos, to the OP a week is not enough time to judge a knife. Also take the proper time to form your own opinion(longer than a week) other than just going by what some guy on youtube says. Now had you said I've been using the southard for a couple of months and I'm disappointed in it that'd be a diifferent story, but saying that you used the knife for a week and its junk, and saying if you buy non Us knives you are supporting "slave labor", and "human rights abuse" could I see some proof of this please, I doubt Spyderco has little kids in sweat shops building their knives, if they do those are some talented little kids. Also saying anything in the Benchmade catalog will outperform the southard is really border line trolling, so that makes me wonder what was the point of you starting this thread, to really get peoples opinion on "the most overhyped knife in production" or to troll along and just try to get a rise out of everyone.

When you buy clothes you support..
when you buy computers you support..
when you buy a car you support..

See where I'm going? We buy things everyday made in China and other countries. You could not go an hour without interacting with something made in another county. None of us could. That's America.

Just my .02. I would put a $30 RAT 1 up against the Spyderco Southard any day, and still have some cash in my pocket.

Really? so you have nothing made in China, Taiwan, Indonesia or South Africa in your house? If you do, then isn't your comment hypocritical?

So you are saying that knives made in Canada, Sweden, Norway, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Japan as an example involve slave labor and human rights abuse?

rat 1 and utilitac are amazing knives for under $30 I cant think of a knife that matches it in the $30 price range.

close but not up to the ontarios the screws dont strip and has thick bronze bushings and little bit better steel love my kershaws but ontario wins this one now above $50 kershaw makes better knives for sure groove, ram, lahar.

Just wow. Thought maybe you were honestly interested in the thread topic, but looks like you just needed a platform for trolling.
