Most over-rated production knife brand?

The only reason people buy Emerson knives is to Instagram then sitting on a Punisher T-shirt.

Survey says,,,, Over rated!

Wait.. Hold up stabman... You mean the marketing isn't 100% factual truth?!?

Lol people actually believe because the box said "number 1# hard use knife" it can take more "hard use" than every other knife on earth.

Or because it's " the worlds sharpest" surgeons use them for open heart surgery.

Sigh.. The gullible.

I don't think anyone of here is being "gullible" to whats being said on a knife box or actually believing it ....lol

I haven't read every post in this thread but did someone say that?

Not everything negative said about Emersons are "bashing". Not singing praise for a knife isn't "bashing".

Bashing is baseless name calling and ridicule. Most of the opinions in here have been said rather tactfully in my opinion.
You have to agree with that on some levels, a lot of the people bashing Emerson or any brand for that matter haven't owned them, all I'm saying is , if you had firsthand experience with a brand and had an issue then say it, don't come out and say

"THEY HAVE LINER LOCKS AND LOOK POOPY AND THERE ISN'T ANY BLUE STUFF ON THEM, EWWWW NO THANKS"

that's normally what you get from most people that have 0 experience with a brand.

Whenever I see certain marketing phrasing, I know that truth is likely to be found somewhere else. ;)

Except with my book, of course. It really is the greatest work of literary genius in the history of mankind...seriously! :D

HAHA, since you put it that way I might have to buy it!

OR

maybe I should review your book without ever reading it, that seems to work well here on BF ;)

People who said CRK should cost $200-$300 obviously never own CRK.

No folding knife from any brand in this planet at that price range has the built quality of CRK... You can barely find any even in $1,000 price range...

F&F, tolerance and execution of CRK are far beyond most production safe Rockstead.

What other knives do you own to back up this statement? Unless you have experience with many other knives in the similar price bracket, your claim is not justified. If this is the case, you come across as just another generic CRK fanboy 4 lyfe. If you do have extensive experience with many other $1k knives, then I would be very interested in seeing which ones for basis of comparison.

I must admit, I have come across $1k+ knives with poorer fit and finish than a $200 knife (like some Marfione customs that don't even have the blade centered. Sigil would easily be one of the best knives if QC was up to par). But in general, they are worth their asking price.

CRK's are excellently done, but they aren't so special that they would be considered better than any knife on the planet. In my opinion (from having handled one), they come close.

As long as it's a glowing review posted in as many spots as you can, that's acceptable. ;)

Although probably best to read it first...so far the people who have say they enjoyed it, and I didn't even have to stab them too many times for such glowing reviews. :D

As much as I like Emerson I found that #1 hard use phase to be ridiculous to be honest...

But hey, why give a shit my friend since it just a freaking toy... no one need $300 knife... we just want it and we have some money to burn:thumbup:

Lets me show my 4 most overrated blade :D

I bought a copy Stabman. Better be good.:D

I actually find them pretty good for use.
The large pivot and stop-pin hold up well to cutting forces. :)

For determining "hard use" suitability, then we need to have yet another thread asking what that even means...

Agreed and damn fine infidu?

I need to pick up a ratmandu infidu swatmandu hell any of them.. That handle always appeals to me.

We might need to consult your book for some tips on "hard use" of a knife.

I've enjoyed what I've read so far, stabman.

Knives--ALL KNIVES--are over-rated. Chain saws are more efficient at cutting stuff. They're louder too.

Used one extensively. Decent knife, absolutely nothing about it justifies the price for the end user.

The end user is actually the only one that can justify the price, otherwise they wouldn't be purchased

I'm waiting patiently for them to put out a large manual that I dig with the APB. It looks like a winner.

The 655 isn't large enough? It is easily de-assisted. Take a look at this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1348056-Update!-Benchmade-665

Most overrated to me is spyderco! Ugly knives, god awful blade to handle ratios and their fanboy club is "really" special!

Goodness, a fan boy blast. How original.

Its my opinion that Seb's are overrated when compared to modern knives (and no I dont consider the Seb 21 a Modern folder, its a knife from the 80s). At least give us a better steel than S30v. It was cool 10 5 years ago but we can get $70 knives that have same or higher end steels.

Sebenzas are modern knives. More modern than most other "modern" knives. If I have to explain why, the term is clearly lost on you. They don't use S30v any more there kid. Maybe look it up before you try to bash a well respected company. And show me the $70 knife that has all the equal attributes of a CRK. That is rhetorical. You can't.

Its ok for you to be a CRK fanboy.

Wow, another fanboy shot! Freaking amazing insight!

How do you define "full tang"?

Full tang is when the tang extends fully through each end of the knife.

What is with the armature hour here? Is spring break so soon? Seriously, how could a thread like this go so badly? :)

Chainsaws are terrible at EDC, like knives. When I need to cut an apple I simply shoot it into pieces.

Now that we can make knives that are assisted-open, why not knives that are assisted-cut? This would render all manual-cut knives over-rated.

Let's all keep having fun with this. I know I have been.

There were (and probably still are) those electric knives for people that are too lazy to slice. :)
