Most satisfying knife to open

The FRN-handled Spydercos are surprisingly satisfying. The action can be dialed in very smooth, and especially the Endura has a nice velvety KLIK. Good times!

ProTech Ciabatta aka Italian Slipper by Blackie Collins gives great satisfaction as it is an auto that is fully legal in jurisdictions where an auto (push-button, gravity, etc.) is specifically illegal.

No one I have ever met has been able to figure out how the opening and closing mechanism works, yet it is fully legal to own/carry in my state where autos are specifically illegal to posses (own, collect, etc.) and/or carry.

A Kershaw 3655 or discontinued 1840. I like the speed safe function on a 3.5 inch bladed knife. I have difficult with other opening systems.

I'd basically have to list out almost every knife in my collection but I'll start with a few that stand out. Tbc exk, sbd evo typhoon and void, reate torrent and jack, Fortis 2, microtech troodon, we 601 ,black void opus, civivi imperium,bo...

Microtech Halo V. Don't carry it as much as I'd like, but yeah it's satisfying.

I picked up a Benchmade Rukus last year and that's a close 2nd.

My Sebenza 25 Carbon Fiber from KnifeArt makes a loud, deep, and satisfying crack on opening. Of all my other knives including eight more from CRK and four of those also with Carbon Fiber, none make this amazing sound.

These stand out to me. There's no way I could narrow it down to single digits, so I chose a few from each category of my hoard (folder, flipper, traditional, auto).

Overall, I just love the feel of opening my Small Sebenza 31. Smooth, consistent, and oh so nice. Nearly the same hydraulic feel as my 21, but without that little double-hitch at the very end.
A very close second is my Chaparral lightweight. Not quite as smooth feeling, but the way my thumb glides around the edge of the cutout while opening feels more natural than a thumbstud.
I have a question. I have my new Sebenza 31, never used, it is hard to open. I am wondering if I should try an adjustment? But CR probably has great quality control, so maybe It just needs some use. What do you think?
Thanks,
Garryowen

Just needs to be opened and closed a few hundred times to break it in. All of my sebenzas were stiff when brand new and are smooth as silk after being broken in.

I’m more of a Spyderco and Cold Steel man for a while now. I just picked up a Civivi Praxis.

After five minutes of fiddling, the Praxis definitely takes the cake.

I think my favorite knife to open is the Mnandi. Small, sleek and sexy. Open it in the office or a restaurant and no one bats an eye at the old guy and his knife but I hear that sweet sound that can only be described as a Sebenza whispering to you…

I don’t own one anymore but I bought a second ‘ZAAN after selling my first just because how much I enjoyed opening them.

A fixed Blade :D
I have to agree with this. ^^

Outside of fixed blades I’d say my Grayman Satu. After hitting the washers with some 3000 grit sand paper I get smooth thumb flicks and solid lock up with a loud clunk.

My previous post has become outdated.

My two new, and forever all-time favorites. Nothing beats the feel of a powerful switchblade coming alive in your hand 😊.

Videos included.
