Most useful (yet practical) Swiss Army Knife?

I count 10 SAKs in my collection. I might have a problem.

1x walnut farmer
2x Spartans (ti and black/white)
3x cadets (ti, copper, cf)
2x classic SDs
1x mini champ
1x alox pioneer
Nahh…that’s just a start. The best part about SAKs is that you can buy a couple every month, and not feel guilty about your spending habits. lol

I currently have the Victorinox Swisstool Spirit Plus, Compact, and Swisscard; as well as the Swiza D04 Moonwalk 50 Swiss Knife. What I love about Victorinox is that they seem to make a Swiss Army Knife for every occasion and occupation, as well as a ton of different scales for collectors. The Victorinox Swiss Army Knives I want the most right now are the Cyber Tool 34 and Ranger Grip 79.

For me is the pioneer for every day use, suspended in a back pocket with a Tec Accessories p-7 clip. When I go into the woods, I replace it with a farmer to get the saw.

It’s good to have a baseline set of tools always available.

I know I'm in the wrong place.

I don't like sak's, I don't understand the following.
If you guys like em that's good 👍.
I've always had a distaste for them.
Hard to open for their uses. Shrug

Imagine how much harder it would be to carry two screw drivers, a can opener, a cap lifter, two knives, tweezers, and a toothpick.

I carry a pack of toothpics anyhow lol.
I've seen had and used them, definitely not for me.

They do pack alot of tools, I understand the attraction to that aspect.
Enjoy

I love the big RangerGrip models . Large locking main blade and usefully large saw etc .

The little slip joints , I never bothered with much . Rather have a multitool .

Does your keychain have my keychain beat? 😁

Not shown is the pen and tweezers.
I don't know. Maybe? Maybe not?

It's got 5 screwdrivers, 2 knives, scissors, a can opener, a bottle cap lifter, a flashlight, pliers w/ wire cutters, tweezers, 2 nail files, and a corkscrew.

There's no toothpick, no cuticle pusher, no cut and picker, and no pen.

Granted, that stuff is all small. For a key chain it has to be small. Small is less usable. If I had all that stuff on a 91mm SAK, it would be mostly bigger and more usable, with the exception of the pliers.

Interestingly, I took apart my keyboard, cleaned it out, and put it back together with the screwdriver and cuticle pusher. Exciting stuff!
The only thing better than carrying a SAK is using a SAK. 👍

The citrus peeler makes a great package opener. Maybe they should consider a bigger version on the mediums instead of the extra small blade.

Another vote for the 58mm line, no matter what my 'other' knife is, I always have one of these on me

A lot of factors can be involved in choosing a SAK but it isn't always so scientific. My first SAK was a gift from my grandfather when I was a kid. It was an early-model Spartan and my most-treasured possession for years to follow. In the decades between then and now, I had significant EDC runs with both the Tinker and the Farmer. Each had been chosen from what was available at local stores, since that's how we shopped back in the day.

Nowadays, my most carried Victorinox is the Swiss Tool XC. I love a good pliers-based multi-tool and I've come to appreciate the Swiss Tool over any of the full-sized Leatherman tools I've owned. The XC has the right selection of tools for my needs. Coincidentally, the XC does not have the usual knife blade. I had been on the quest for a new multi-tool and had become frustrated with the blade steel selection. Since I'm always carrying a multi-tool in addition to a dedicated folder, I came to the conclusion that I don't really care about the plain-edged blade on a multi-tool. From there, the serrated-only XC moved to the top of my list.

The only other SAKs in my rotation are the Classic SD and the Jetsetter but they almost never get carried. They are part of my modular key ring rotation, along with the slightly larger Ruike S22. The Classic SD can get attached if I'm carrying light but that doesn't happen much anymore. The Jetsetter is for air travel but I don't do that anymore either. Still, they remain on the selection hooks just in case.

A Manager for the keychain.

In the pocket something that can be easily carried with the scales facing one outwards and one inwards, up to 4 layers, ALOX usually. The Farmer X if you need scissors is good (if you are not already carrying 58mm model with scissors). The explorer is also a good one with nice functions.

What many people do with thicker models is to carry them rotated, with the scales at 90 degrees to the body so the thickness you feel is about the same on a 4 layer or 8+ layer tool.

Usually the weight becomes an issue before the size does.

Normal daily is a compact, I also have a "dressy" compact with the SwissBianco copper, but that makes it a heavy beast. Heavier duty is pioneer X for urban, Farmer for out of town. Explorer is a good tool-bag SAK. That's all providing that I don't have a reason to carry something specific. I do like my Rucksack.
