Movies recommended for knife nuts.

The movies that really got me started loving knives and swords

First blood - Rambo knife
Commando - knife at end Arnie uses
Predator - Billy machete and Arnie knife
Highlander - 100 fold katana
Cyborg - plenty of blades in that but the kukri stand out
" Exposure" with Peter Coyote - Though when I was young I though the Randall knife in it (is it) was pretty crap... Hey I was young...
Lone wolf and cub - for lovers of katana
The hunted - The japanese version has excellent samurai vs ninja action and is only let down by the inclusion of christopher lambert
The hunted - Love the Tom brown tracker and the knapped knife he makes at the end...

These movies really stand out for me...

There's a lot of knife action in the 2 Expendables movies. Jason Statham's character uses knives as his weapon of choice, both in hand to hand and thrown. Mickey Rourke's character in part 1 engages in knife throwing contests with Statham, Jet Li also briefly uses a knife in the first movie, Lundgren carries a big knife(but doesn't use it as I recall), Stallone uses a big knife a couple of times in both movies, Terry Crews uses a straight razor in the first but seems to have upgraded to a fixed blade of some sort in part 2, Van Damme uses one in a rather over the top manner in part 2... Think Randy Couture briefly uses a tomahawk in the second as well.

I dunno about knife scenes, but I highly recommend any movie directed by Wes Anderson!

I agree completely. Both the Royal Tenenbaums and the Darjeeling Limited have important scenes with razors, so that is sort of a tie in if anyone needs one. Also I feel confident Moonrise Kingdom probably has a swiss army knife scene somewhere in it, but I don't actually remember.

here's a few off the top of my head

Sha Po Lang
Man with the Iron Fists (terrible movie)
Legend of the Fist
The Saint (most ridiculously advanced sak ever)
Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick
Seraphim Falls
Big Trouble in Little China
the Punisher movies
Hannibal

This scene in Saving private Ryan... I hate what happens, but it is a damn good scene!

I almost forgot the movie "Kick Ass". Great use of a BM42. :)

^^ ah yes, thanks.

Another recommendation "Jiro Dreams Of Sushi". This is a documentary on one of Japan's most esteemed sushi chefs. First off it's a great documentary, VERY good cinematography, and an engaging story and soundtrack.

onto the knives: you see some brief glances of very nice Japanese sushi knives throughout the film. Not too frequently at first. about halfway through you run into a scene showcasing all types of sushi and chef knives and very great skill behind wielding them. Also throughout the film you see the people at the fish market using anything from small, paring sized knives, up to what can only be described as large swords used to butcher large tuna. and everything in between.

you can stream this one on Netflix.

edit: you also see then sharpening on Japanese water stones. I'm sure some on here will like that.
