MT24P - Mule Team Fixed Blade with Maxamet

I'd like to get one, but I'm so happy with the K390 MULE, don't know if I should spend the $. Still need kydex for the K390. I'm slackin'

Interested in hearing user thoughts on the Maxamet.

My only Mule is/was the K390. And I like you, love it.
But......my K390 (which is a beast in edge retention) does 860 cuts, but Maxamet does 1,940?
Well, at least now I have a team of Mules ;)

Just got mine, couldn't help but slay some cardboard with it. It was able to slice phone book paper out of the box and after cutting the cardboard. Will be getting some Halpern scales tomorrow :)

Mine arrived today at the same time as the Halpern scales and a fresh bottle of Frog Lube! Is that perfect timing, or what? The sheath arrived a few days ago. Here she is, all dressed up and ready to party!

My MT24 Maxamet with Halpern CF scales. A high-tech steel deserves some high-tech handles.

Halpern scales arrived today, Sheathpro is making the sheath any day, as soon as they call and say they are ready I'll head over to the Spyderco store and pick up the blade then over to Sheathpro and put it all together.

How's everyone finding the Maxamet after a bit of use. I'm enjoying mine. I have to say I believe it touches up on the sharpmaker brown rods a little easier than S110V. This touch up took all of 45 sec with a few double passes on the flats and about 10 passes alternating sides on the points. 3 alternative swipes on a 1.5 micron diamond paste leather strop, swade side up. It was sharp prior to the touch up (after cutting abrasive carpet) but not this refined.

Anyone know anything about the MT23, or do they keep that a secret until they announce it?

My understanding is that MT23 is still coming although there has been no official announcement as to when that will happen. Tazkristi usually announces here and on the Spyderco forum when a new Mule Team will become available as well as what steel they will be using. Prior to that announcement, that info is not released.

Is the 24 still available? That is some high alloy stuff.....

Yes, they have plenty according to Kristy. As soon as my Sheathpro is ready I'm going to pick it up then go to the spyderco store pick one up. Luckily both are close to each other and only about 30 miles from me.

I find that interesting they haven't sold out already.

But then Spyderco has released a lot of different models lately so that may have something to do with it I suppose.

Yeah, I jumped on the website the minute the same went live, and was panicking that I wouldn't get my info entered before they sold out.

I certainly am happy with my purchase!

Well it all came together today! Really like it! Going to use the factory edge till its dull then probably go to 15dps and see how it does and how long it lasts, then decide if any change is needed. Hope it takes a long time to dull as it won't be my EDC. Sheathpro is really nice with good retention and a nice snap with just the right amount of thumb pressure to release the knife from the sheath. Halpern option 5 flat scales do the job nicely but might upgrade to a more full and smoother option in the future although a new sheath will be necessary because it is molded around the scales.

Next knife and first production knife other then the mule from spyderco with a Maxamet blade will be the Manix 2 according to Spyderco.

I've been waiting for a folding knife steel like this for 25 years.
