Absolutely,at 1/2" thick I dont think prying will ever be a problem, unless its rusty tank tracks, the handle isnt big enough for both my hands but if i put the lanyard on bottom hand i can easily swing with 2 hands, the force is immense...
I saw your thread on that bad boy a week or so ago, that thing is truly a monster of a blade
I'm trying to refine my technique with the 9, the good strikes I'm getting sink deep but I don't have as accurate strike placement as I do with an axe or a hatchet. and for what its worth the 16 has my endorsement.
Hey ocn, these are good, from the Forest Service.

this is two in one video. Axe use starts at about 30 min in.
Also google "hand tools for trail work", also from the Forest Servive.
... A lot of it is just breaking down your technique and slowly making every swing count. Eventually you get faster. I basically had the inverse problem, lots of experience with axes and hatchets, and not much with a large knife.
Exactly..... I am terrible at chopping with a knife.... thus my strong affection for the 4..... it chops like a hatchet as opposed to the 9 where I miss, sink the blade and wrestle it out. I've gone from terrible to just bad with the 4. But I'm devoted to it and think it's a great replacement for the small hatchet in a trio.
I've been looking for a workhorse to accompany my Izula II for a long time. Ive edc'd the crap outta my little fixed blade for a long, long time and for me the 9 complements it perfectly. Izula is great for my more precise and smaller work and the 9 is for cutting swathes through anything and anything i need. It's a great combo IMO.
Sorry for the crappy quality

Yep that ought'a do just about anything you need within reason![]()
Large blades take some getting used to (at least in my experience) if you're used to axes and hatchets
I think the 14 you have, the 16 and the 9 are my favorite Becker's (possibly because they are my only Becker's but I digress) they are at least the three that grabbed my attention most.
