First poster here and budding knife enthusiast. For all of you guys who EDC multiple blades a day, how do you carry everything and what would you need multiple blades for? For instance, the only time i carry anything is when im out of doors or hunting/fishing. And my carry most of the time is id and cash front left, keys and knife front right. can of cope back left. phone back right. I don't know where i would carry another blade or what you guys use it for. Thanks for the opinions and input.

I like having different lengths and blade shapes for multiple tasks. For instance, if I just need something small cut, like some loose string or an envelope, I like to use a small pen blade or perhaps a sheepsfoot blade, as it doesn't require much accuracy. For more delicate work, I find that small clip-point blades work nicely as they have a sharp point and a little sweep at the belly. If I need to cut some food up, I usually have one medium length blade, roughly three inches of clip or drop-point blade that stays impeccably clean and sharp. Perhaps it's my slight obsessiveness with using the right tool for the right job, or perhaps I'm just nuts.

I carry one clipped to the front pocket and have a backup on my keychain. If you forced honest answers out of most people who carry multiple knives, I think many will admit that the redundancy is unnecessary but still good fun. Some more legitimate reasons would be folders and fixed blades, plain edge and serrated, a sheeple knife and a bigger knife, etc.

Haha kenix, i figured that was what it boiled down to but didn't want to ask that outright. Didnt seem too polite for my taste. I can see the reasoning behind ILIKEPIE's argument though. I guess because being in college i cant edc all the time that when i do carry i carry a specific blade for what im doing or maybe just a blade because it means something to me. (still carry my grandfather's blade any chance that i can get.)

I usually carry a neck knife such as my izula, and a kershaw tyrade in my front pocket, before I got my izula it was a SAK cadet that I packet with my kershaw, one in each pocket....

I only carry one folder in my right front pocket. I also do EDC a Micra but I really don't count that as a blade, and sometimes I carry a MT. I'll only carry another blade if I'm out of the city.

Hi bjjwannabe152 -

For me it's simple -

I am a knife knut, and I have so many that I like to carry one "rotation" knife and then I always have my SAK Waiter that has tweezers, bottle opener, corkscrew, screwdriver etc.

Then for fun I carry a rotation of Kershaws, a SOG Flash I, a BM mini Griptilian and my AGR Acies.

best regards -

There's really no good reason at all for multiple carry. But how many rings does a woman wear at one time?

A knife to a knife knut is like that; sort of pocket jewlery. And to be honest, a fetish item we obsess over. I know that I do, I admit it. For 99.9999...% of what I cut in the course of my life as a modern suburban dweller, the little Victorinox classic on my keyring is totally adaquete. The Case sodbuster, the Hen and Rooster stockman, or the Mike Miller custom pocket fixed blade in my pocket is not needed. But it's a very big want.

We carry multiple knives because we like them. Pure and simple. It has nothing to do with need at all. Yes I think a pocket knife is a needed thing, but for most of us a small keychain size one would be fine. Not many real working cowboys or old fashion sailors here, let alone real Jack Baur's. But it's not what we want. Want's and needs are very differing creatures.

For a lot of would be Walter Mitty's, a sak classic won't do at all.

I only carry one knife, but I don't like a lot of stuff rattling around in my pockets. One knife, phone, lighter, money clip, and keychain (two keys- different keychain for each car to keep it small).

My obsession comes into play while I'm trying to decide which one to put in my pocket!

I carry lots because when the ninjas come I always end up breaking or throwing a couple so it is advisable to have backups.

No seriously I keep a SAK on my keys because it has tools my primary carry lacks. A mini prybar is not a blade but I carry it to replace the thick bladed knife I used to carry as a secondary (the secondary rarly cut anything but it got abused during prying tasks so I got the pry bar)

If I'm carrying a biggun, like my Benchmade 710, I like to have a smaller slipjoint, because frankly, the small knife can do anything I need a knife for. So why do I carry the big one? Cuz I'm a knife enthusiast so it is for the pure pleasure of it. And of course, there is the ninja scenario that unit referred to. Oh, and zombies...

I usually carry a larger knife and then my Vic Cadet...right now the bigger knife is my Lg sebenza...sometimes i will put my izula on my belt for fun:D:D

I EDC a Vic Electrician plus in my rt front pocket for the awl and saw mostly but use the small sheepfoot a lot also. An Al Mar ultra lite is clipped rt rear for when I need a quick one hand opener.--KV

I carry multiple blades in generally in work simply because: I love my Spyderco Caly 3. Its perfect knife for EDC but not too many person in work might appreciate that. One hand opening, snapping lock pointy and big looking blade. So when working with no-knife people / sheeple, I usually have slipjoint with me usually one of the:

SAK Pioneer or Soldier / Texas Jack CV / Stockman CV or Wharncliffed Trapper. Traditional slipjoints are far less aggressive looking and traditional so people do not fear them.

And for the work I have multitool which I need nearly daily. Past month it has been Victorinox CyberTool 34.

I carry a folder for the little every day jobs, and a fixed blade for the bigger jobs that occasionally come up.

The folder is clipped in a pocket, and the fixed blade is in a kydex IWB sheath. Or in a pocket sheath, depending on which knife I feel like carrying on a particular day.

My preferred method of carry for ease of use is a clipped pocket folder. I also carry a neck knife as a backup and as something tougher that I can use when I don't want to damage my folder.
If I'm wearing sweats or anything without pockets like swimming trunks, it's just the necker.
Usually don't wear a belt knife for EDC.

I always carry a SAK in my Front Left pocket. I seldom carry a second locking folder. When I do it generally rides IWB.
