  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Munky's Thousand Post Giveaway

Hefty trash compactor liners make very good pack liners, only weigh a couple of oz's and are pretty sturdy. They can be used in pinch for a ground cloth (have to be cut). They can used to collect water. They also make a great door for a debris shelter- in the summer w/ leaves/litter/other insulated material, in the winter fill w/ snow. Lots and lots of other uses- a true multi use item :)

Make a survival kit you can put in your pocket or pin to your clothing. If you put it in a bag, and lose the bag, you lose your kit. You can make a big one for giggles, but make a tiny one with the basics to make sure you have the important stuff ON you (and waterproof) at all times.

In a desert situation (any situation with evaporative temperatures), you can reclaim your urine with a still made from the plastic bag like the one mtwarden suggested you carry. Urinate in a 2'x 2' hole you carve in the sand. Then, set a cup in the middle of the hole, and pin the plastic over the hole so that it traps the moisture. Set a small pebble in the center of the plastic, over the cup so that the water that collects is forced down to that point. Just make sure the pebble doesn't weight so much that it makes the plastic touch the cup, that will ruin the still. Then wait for the magic to collect in your cup (depends on the temperature etc. though an hour is enough usually), and voilà: WATER.

A final entry for me:

You can make an emergency whistle out of an acorn cap or many other similarly small hollow objects by covering the opening with your two thumbs next to each other. You touch the knuckles of your thumbs together, spread the tips a little bit apart, put your mouth on your knuckles and blow. It will produce an extremely loud whistle.

I found this website that makes my description a little bit clearer:

So I just used a random number generator and went by post number. First person drawn was me! I already have enough of my knives, so second number was #18 - d_filgate

I guess I'll just hand it off to bushman5 along with your patch?

Edit: oh wait, he asked to be excluded from the running. Damn it, i cant even give this damned thing away!
