Okay folks...*some* images are up here if you are interested in seeing them...

We are all here at the Khon...had a great dinner, conversation, showing all of our stuff, etc. Right now Tom, Pen, Hollow and RoadRunner are all sitting in my living room talking knives, Khuks and politics.

Wish you were here!!! :D

Well, not all of us. Some won't be there til 2morrow, which soon approacheth!

Trevor and I will be there @ 9:30am.

Now, don't use up all the fun B4 we arrive!

Keith

Of the Gang. I guess those of us that are not there have to guess who's who.

Like the pic of the unmounted Ak blade, note the tapered tang thickness and width!

I'm guessing that the guy holding it is you, Nasty!

Keith

Ferrous, actually that's hollowdweller. The fellas in this pic, from left to right, are Shawn, Nasty, Warren, Pendentive, Tom and Brian. I didn't arrive in time for that pic, I'm the guy on the right in P1010005.JPG in case anyone's wondering. As Nasty said, dinner was great and the impromptu show and tell in Nasty's garage was lots of fun too! Jim brought all kinds of neat stuff for everyone to fondle.. er, I mean look at ;) . Definitely worth the trip. Wish you were here!

Cool! I saw someone holding a sweet looking Kora. Is that Jim's?

I'll be bringing some fun old items to marvel at, from China, Java, and Africa.

I'm all packed now, just wishing I was there already. Well, 6:30 comes pretty early. Luckily I have about a 140 min. drive, straight shot.

Keith

I'm off to the post office to see if any of the faces match the pictures on the wall. :D

Damn I wish I was there.
That restaurant looked sooo goood.
Hamburgers, BBQ, chicken fried steak.
Oh man!

I cant get a sandwich here without staring some octopus up the ass.

More pics, better lighting, more knives!

Thanks for showing the pics. Some day I hope to meet all you fine gentleman.
:)

Looks like you guys are having a fine time. Have fun, be careful, and return home safely. I wish i could have made it:( Oh well, back to my paperwork...on a saturday. <<cue violin>>

I do NOT want to know what was in the BBOB, I have an aversion to turning green... Just like I don't want to hear about folks touring the Titanic's Shed o'Khuks, or visiting under Uncle Bill's bed, or going cave diving in Florida, etc...

Update:

We have been grinding, sanding, rope cutting, paper cutting, making handles, sharpening, reprofiling...you name it!

Stopped for a pizza break....(worked right on through lunch...oops!)

Back to work/fun!!!

:D

We have some khuk pics....I'll have to remind whoever took 'em to post 'em soon...

Re: the weather

I'm sunburnt!

in Indiana. What a khon! Good friends, good times. Here's to the gents of HIMWKK04!

Report to follow, after a bit of sack time.

Keith

Okay, then, here's whats left in the BBOB--nuttin. All 30 or so pieces left with the attendees, each buying about 1-3 pieces. Semp won the M-43 raffle!

A big thanks to Uncle Bill for inspiring this wonderful event, and for sending the wonderful blems!

I ain't saying no more. Seems like the guy with the shortest drive shouldn't spoil the tales fer others by blabbing on and one about how good this was, and how nice the weather was, and going on... and on... about... all... the... cool...

Keith

The last of the Khukri Knuts (RoadRunner) just left...It seems like all of my Khukri brothers have grown up and left the nest <sniff>..at least until next year!

It's so strangely quiet here...no grinding, no chopping, no belching (oops)...guess I'll just have to content myself with my new babies...

Now that I ***CAN*** do a Pen edge at will!!!!!!!!!! Gonna go change my *Location* profile right now!!!

WOW!!!!!

What a great Khonvention!!! I learned soooooo much! And what a great bunch of guys! I’ve got so many people I want to thank!

SPECIAL THANKS….

to Nasty’s SWMBO for allowing us to track up her lovely home and have a place to make wood chips out of logs!

to Pen for the great instruction. Nothin’ beats on the job training to see the right way to do things!

to MacHete for the great Khonvention T Shirts!

to WarrenR for the nice strop!

to Ferrous’s buddy Trevor for the No Coast T shirt. That was truly unexpected. Jesse eat ya heart out!

to DannyinJapan for the great DVD. Trust me folks, if you ever meet this guy you’d better hope he’s not pissed at ya!

And of course, to Uncle Bill, for providing the foundation for all of this to happen in the first place!

Ferrous mentioned this earlier but I gotta repeat it now. I ACTUALLY WON THE M 43! WOW!!! Eat those mangy DUCK feathers Clifton!! :D And it is PERFECT, And made by BURA!! WOW! I still can’t believe it! See pic below.

Did I say I had a great time? WOW! Can’t wait for next year!!!!! :D :D :D

Home again, and conscious-but with an inexplicable headache. Probably HIKV. :D

What a GREAT time! I could go on and on about what a great host Nasty was, or how generous everyone was with their time, materials, skills and knowledge, or how much fun it was, or about how great it was to meet people in person whom I'd only known from screen names and messages, or about Uncle Bill's overwhelming awesomeness. I could go on and on about all that, but instead I'll just say- "You shoulda been there!" :D

Thanks everybody! Can't wait til next time!

I'll second the thanks that Semp and Mac gave, and add Thomas Linton to the list--thank you fer lettgin me handle those wonderful old perfect magical swords, and thanks for letting me cut rope with one! That was a day-maker in and of itself, just one of many that day. Also thank Pen fer Kris Kringle, and for his technique guidance on the free-hanging rope cutting.

Nasty, you throw a great party. Your hospitality is unparallelled!

My only regret is that I should a started the etching demo in parallel to other works, so everyone could have an etched khuk. We did get a few etched (with photo documentation by RR), but by that time it was getting late and we were all enjoying some off-the-feet-time. (Sorry, fellas, I apologise...If yer interested, HI MW KK 04 atendees can contact me if they really want the etch done, and I'll do it for the cost of shipping.) This is gonna have to be a 2.5 day event next time to fit in all of the wonderful learning/discussions/cameraderie, etc!

I feel like I found some new family that day.

Hope all made it home okay (no ducks in the windshield or anything Mac?:D;)),

...So, is it time to start the HIMWKK05 planning thread?
