MWKK04 Thread

I'll echo that. Thomas Linton's collection is something else again!

I saw a 13th century katana that was awesome. Thanks fer bringin' it, Tom. :)

Just wanted to let everyone know I made it in OK, and I'm glad to hear most of the rest of you have made it home safe. I don't have the time right now to appropriately express just how awesome MWKK04 was, but don't worry, I'll fill you all in more with about 70 pictures after I take a shower. :D For now I'll just thank Nasty for the wonderful digs, and all the rest of you for the good company and good times. It was well worth the trip, I'm already planning for next year. Hope to see some more friendly faces next time!

Thanks to all of you for making it all it could be.

I told you up front that it was going to be "family style" and I think that was what happened. It was a bunch of brothers all getting back home for a good time and that's *exactly* what it turned out to be.

Wow! What an unbelievable event....
made it home a little while ago and finally got the van unpacked...whew!
Shawn and I had an awesome time and it was great to finally meet up with a few
of our Bro's. After seeing the piles and piles of blades, I think I'm going thru Khuk withdrawl.

I'll add to the thread a little later, but would like to take a moment to give a special thanks to Nasty and Uncle Bill. Nasty was one hell of a host and made everyone feel like family. Uncle Bill, you never cease to amaze us. Providing those Khuks for the Khon left a undescribable feeling in everyones heart. There were smiles on faces everywhere you looked. I'm really at a loss on words right now, but want to express my sincere thanks for all you and had done. Dan did a phenominal job in this department as the MWKK moderator; you'd be very proud of him. I'll be sure to get the oodles of pics and videos posted soon (I may need Nasty or Pen's help with this).

All take care for now,
-WarrenR

I had so much fun I am just in a warm glow. How many times do you throw that many people together and everybody gets along and is so congenial?

It was really good to see everybody. Cool to meet Roadrunner since he's on ramanon with me too. Nasty let us hang in his house and was the ultimate party host. Good natured, had all the bases covered. Was really cool Brian brought his camptramp and I got too see one. That was so considerate of Warren to bring all that stuff to make up all those little strops. That was totally nice.

Pen had so many good tips and little tricks to turn us on to. Was cool to see Ferrous' collection of exotica and see how he does his etching. After checking it out I feel like I could try it.

Was really neat to put faces on Shawn and Semper Fi, and it was cool to find out he had been trying to get an M43 for a while, and then won the one in the raffle. Be cool if Trevor comes here and posts some.

So all Saturday we had the Thomas Linton show. There were no reruns. About every hour he came carring new and different swords, knives and Khuks out of the woodwork. I have some picture of parts of his stuff too, but I really wish we could have got a full collections shot. It was killer.

VERY cool of M/hete for making the T shirts possible. Never have so many done so many cool things.

I have some good pics of some of the stuff I'll try to size down 2night and mail to somebody.A bunch of Thomas's stuff, and Ferrous wielding the Samuri!!

Also left Nastys and did a 3 and a half, four mile hike in the John Bryan state park. Ran down throught the gorge of the miami river. Got some beautiful picture of hugs waterfalls coming off the gorge rim. Also wanderred around the crafts and cool little headshops in nearby Yellow Springs. An extremely kind town.

Was Fantastic. Thanks Y'all!!! DAMN  [/U] good meeting you!

A great time with a great bunch of guys. It was a very special weekend, and I am presently at a loss for words to describe it properly. I guess I need a few hours sleep.
Thanks especially to Nasty and Pen for being the extraordinary hosts and generous people they are, and to everyone else at the Khon for being such fine companions.
Does anyone else besides me have a sore arm? We did a lot of choppin' and I'm payin' the price today. No complaints here, though, I'd do it again tomorrow. Well... make that next week - I don't think I could lift a biltong tomorrow :=(
Thanks for sharing, Danny. Very special feelings...
Blessings to Uncle Bill. Wishing, he could have been there. Well, he sort of was... :=)
Thanks guys.

Mee too. I feel like I've been unpacking my memory banks all day today. Simply spectacular. Stuff was cool, the people were what made it. If not a single piece of steel was there, we'd all've had a blast anyhow. Brothers indeed, Nasty!

"13th century katana that was awesome"--The magic of this blade cannot be described. I totally understand Japanese sword collectors now. It looked like it had been made yesterday!

Bri--Yep, a little sore. We did like a full day of labor on logs, machines, knives, etc!

HD--The warm glow description is right on. Sounds like the park is a definite hit for next time! I wanna hit the kind town, too!;)

You guys might've seen that whip-dagger I made, and remember how I said it was my wife's. Well, Pen, when she saw Kris Kringle, she said it is hers too! (She totally understands while holding it why I hadta have such a unique piece). We settled on joint ownership, but she gets the show-it-off rights (gotta love that in a woman!)

Well, off to sharpen DIJ's HIMWKK04-etched Bilton.

:-) You haven't seen the half of it yet...wait!

DT, ya got's no idea. well, okay, mebbe ya do :D

Thomas is an immaculate blade conservationist, and Trevor said "Museum" many times in regards to his collection. Learned a few trix from him on hunting down the good ones. Now, if I can just get the $$$ in line...

Warren, awesome pics man! I'm glad you got some more of Tom's collection, I was a derelict photographer. It's hard to grind and snap pics at the same time. ;) I'm uploading about 66 pictures as I type, give me an hour or so to resize and add captions then I'll link to the album. Some of these are real gems, I'm still kicking myself for not getting a good group shot though. :footinmou I got everyone but myself at some point or another, I'm kind of glad not to have any in my BCGs (Army issue/butt ugly safety glasses). I managed to get a lot of good action and 'unposed' shots, I think you all will like them. Warren, if you have more pics you want uploaded send me an e-mail with them attached and I'll put them on my account. I have a lot of bandwidth. Anyway, while those upload here's a sample. Enjoy!

Yee-Haw Tarwar! I think that was about 1/4 of the way through on the first blow.

As you can see from the photo, I live in a suburban setting...so don't be surprised later when you start to hear about the garage sale people stopping in front or walking up the drive :-\

"You mean these neat grinders, saws, buffers and stuff aren't for sale?"

You were there in spirit Danny. Thanks so much for putting the DVD together for us, everyone enjoyed it. Your final assistant was quite a lovely lady BTW. Like Semper Fi said, remind me not to make you mad.

Here's a few more pics of the Great MWKK04!!

1. Strop making by Road Runner and Nasty

2. Some non knife toys were on hand too :D

3. Road Runner doing some serious damage to a log.

4. Tom with a 13th century katana. Very sweet!

5. Brian in Chi with a wheel lock pistol! Very nice!

More to come!

I never did see your pistol Bri. That looks great! Very nice pics Semper. :)

BTW, log damage is FUN. :D

And a few more.....

1. Some of Ferrous's collection of swords and spears (or pig sticker?):D

2. WarrenR, Pen, and Nasty discuss the finer points of cutting hanging rope.

3. Trevor and MacHete at the grinder. Notice the intense concetration. :D

4. Hollowdweller at work on ???. He worked on so much stuff I couldn't keep up. :D

Guys....just made it home....didn't get a single pic!

Y'all worked me to the bone... :D

:p

Nasty - you and I went for a 40 hour rollercoaster ride, eh? (punctuated by a combined total of 6 hours sleep...)

I hit the ground running at 1700 on Friday and didn't stop until 0900 Sunday...

Nasty - you gotta post those pics of your lil' belt knife project we were working on until 3 AM....
