My 6th book goes to print!!

Hello to all of you,
I am new at posting anything on any site, so please bear with my novice attempt.
I want to thank you all for your overwhelming response on my book The Western Bladesmith. It has been a real thrill to work with Dr David Darom in the process of capturing what I do. David has also become a great friend as we worked together on the book.
During the 10 day period he spent in my shop here in Scottsdale, I found that he is an extreamly interesting person as he shared some of his fantastic experiences and adventures.
My hat goes off to David for his passion in his work and the unbelievable talents that he has.
I believe all of the books he has put out in the knife world will accomplish more than we realize in capturing and sharing the fantastic world of custom knives with people that at present don't even know this industry and art form even exists.
This site is pretty neat to its fun to see what is outside my shop door from time to time!
Thanks again,
Tim Hancock

Tim,

Can you tell us whether it will be possible to buy "your" book from you, and how (I'm interested but cannot go to Blade this year, unfortunately).

Thanks,

Joss

Hello Tim,

I see you are getting the hang of things on the Forum!
Two posts more or less in one hour, that is nice.... :)

Joss, check out post #22 on this thread. I think you will
find some answers there...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Yep, I contacted Tim at this address on Dec-1, but I thought maybe my email was not going through, hence my attempt here.

Congrats to both Tim and David on this new book. I will look forward to buying this one when it comes out.

Good to see you here, Tim. Did you get the message I left on your phone a couple of weeks ago? It was in regards to getting one of the numbered edition of this book and having it autographed by yourself and David.

I just feel these words bear repeating, worth another read:).

Tim's book has been printed and Tim just received several copies
in advance of the major shipment that will land in LA in several weeks.

Everything worked out as I hoped it would and I am very happy
with the final result.... Wow, I was holding my breath for too long :)

I'll try and get Tim to post a few words about this adventure
here on the BladeForums.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

The second maker's book complete. You're on a roll.
Congratulations to you and Tim. A huge commitment on both your parts.

Congratulations David!:)

I'm still in the state of shock!
The book is so fantastic, that my mind has been unable to come to the realization that it is about me. I can not believe how well David has it organized and coreographed. He has tallents that are so intrinsic that everything he touches flows, like a work of art should flow, drawing one deeper.... Well to say the least I know that there is no one man better at making a book about what what we love, because he too works from a deep passsion driven soul that carries him through to a spectacular completion.
What an experience this has been and the real fun of it will be to see the book in the hands of others, my hope is that in some way it will make an impact in broading the exposure to the uninlightened about our art form and joy to those in the know.
Thanks
Tim

Well, Tim, working with you has been a great experience for me too.
I am so happy with how this series is coming together... :)

It is strange though, now that I am holding the finished book in
my hand, I feel that what I really would have liked is to experience
the moment of seeing such a book for the first time.

I had the same feeling with all my custom knife books. I am so
involved with nearly every word and pixel that when I finally
see the finished book, it is something I have seen every day for
many months, while working on it and dreaming about it......

Seeing it the first time, that I suppose, could be the ultimate
rush of excitement.

Guys, I envy every one of you who can experience seeing
my books for the first time.....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Congratulations. Looks like I need to buy a few books! Where do I buy them at the best prices DDD?

Tim and David are dedicated at what they do best I must say. What an understatement!

I cant wait to get a copy. How and where?

Look good , i can't wait to hold this book and open it,
Wait to see it in your home and hear more stories from you.

Hello cj, Bruce, Alon (Hi Alon and welcome to BF!) and everyone else,

Tim Hancock will be receiving the whole 1,000 copy edition of his book.
The books will be in his posession by mid March 2009 at the latest.

The book will be introduced to the public at the 2009 BLADE
Show in Atlanta where both Tim and myself will gladly sign
copies for you...
:)

I also think that Tim will begin taking pre-official-introduction orders,
especially for those who can't make it to the BLADE Show or can't wait. :)

If you are interested in one of the 100 numbered copies you
should contact Tim soon....

Already taken are #1-7, # 92-100 and I think # 54 for Marcel.

Tim Hancock's contact info is:
westernbladesmith@gmail.com
(480) 998-8849

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm sure you'll like the book.
I loved every moment of working with Tim while putting it together....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

David, your the man. I am sure I speak for everyone in the knife world when I say your contribution is hugely appreciated and respected. We need more eye candy in the knife world and you certainly deliver.

Tim ain't no slouch either!
