My actual recommendations (setting the record straight)

I've been reading Mary Lutyens biography of Krishnamurti lately and the last volume had a quote from one of his talks that I thought fit Kevin well:

Don't accept a thing the speaker is saying. Follow his reasoning and the subtleties involved in it, but doubt it, be a light to yourself. Religion is the skeptical inquiry into the whole of our existence which is our consciousness. If there is fear your meditation is it utterly meaningless. A free mind is essential for inquiry and when there is fear there is no freedom.

I rather doubt that Kevin would completely agree with the religious attitude, but otherwise it seems a lot like what keeps saying.

...It always comes out of left field as if I missed a whole part of the conversation where some Cashen evil twin said one can’t make knives without a scanning electron microscope and a super-collider.

I could not help but notice an inordinate number of Scanning Electron Microscopes up on ebay. Probably a bunch of lightweight wannabe knifemakers who can't handle the commitment. -Doug
