My BOTM

Goose, I wondered the same thing when that knife arrived. When I bought it I dont recall the ad stating it had etchings, least I was surprised when I saw it on the blade and then wondered why the scale deer were "upside down".
This was one of my first purchases of what I thought was a "limited edition" from Buck and its #53 of 400 (this batch anyways);)

One more to show today. :D This one of my Harley knives from the 10 year Heritage Series where a new knife each year, 3000 each made. I am hunting for the last one of the ten. Year #9 in the series if you have it.:o

Well, I fell off the Buck ANON wagon today.

Went to a gun show and from across an asile I saw what appeared to be one of the Red boxes some Bucks come in, sitting under one of the beige Buck boxes.

Was an Akonua box with all the pretty gold lettering and in mint condition.

Of course the three liner Akonua and sheath inside is in as mint condition except for some brass corrosion around the brads on the sheath. Has the rosewood handles.

And it has a tiny little 2" x 3 1/4 " booklet with a kind of biege colored felt front and back cover, telling about the Akonua. I finally know what Akonua means. And it has the standard Word from the Chairman of the Board of Buck Knives paper. Al Buck

Is the first of these little booklets I have seen or heard about.

And, I better not say what I paid, or didn't pay, for it. I hate seeing grown men cry.

I just wish there was a way to date these..

So now, after having averaged two to five bucks a month for the last couple of years or so, I am up to two so far for this year.....

and I totally resisted the 106 that was in the box sittion on top of the Akonua. . Only because it had been sharpened and I alrealy have a couple. After I left the show, I thought that maybe several of you guys might have wanted it for the $100 he was asking. I am getting old in my thinking processes. Should have gone ahead and grabbed it for some of yall. Sorry,,,,,, Would have been more interested had it been a micarta or phenolic,, but was rosewood.

Larry...
You've been gone as I was peddling the virtues of the 298GY you turned me on to. Darryl ponied up and got one too!

That is cool about the Akonua. Pic please.

Word.

Goose in da hood...

I'll try and get around to some pics here in a couple of days, but kinda like one rose handled Akonua is like all the others.. :)

Its that little booklet that intrigues me most.

Cool Deal on the Sirus goins on Goose. I think it is still a sleeper among Buck pocket folders.

Jeff,,,,this guy also had three 110's laying there that I probably should have bought. One '87, one two dot, and one 4 dot. Had $35 each on them.... No boxes but only the '87 had ever been sharpened, unless someone did a factory type edge on the dots. But, had I not just shelled out cash for a really, really nice Remington 660 in .243 for the grand daughters, I would have grabbed those up also.... fwiw the Rem 660 is just slightly longer with an upgrade stock than the Rem Mohawk 600, which are both designed for the youth and ladies.... slight drift there.... spent all the Buck bucks.

Thanks Jeff! The wife is doing better. For those that don't know, and prob don't care anyway...but what the heck, it's my thread to jack :), my wife went in for a total hip replacement about seven weeks ago. It didn't go well. It wasn't done right and they had to go back and redo it two weeks later. She still is stuck in bed most of the time...doc says she can only get up a total of a half hour a day for another 2-3 weeks. But, she is improving.

The other down side, since I work from home, is that she sees the goods that have been arriving
AND, since she can't be left unattended I told her I HAD to get to the post office the other day. She said, "I have stamps".
I replied, "I don't need stamps"...it continued like this:
Mrs: asked nicely "Oh, what do you need"
Me: "I need to get a money order I promised I'd send out today"
Mrs: "for who?"
Me: "for my buddy, Dave." (for Decaf Dave)
Mrs: "can't you paypal or give him a Visa number?"
Me: "no, that'd be like me doing a sale...I'm not set up for either. He's a private seller like I would be if I was selling a knife".
Mrs: "ANOTHER knife? Is it the one I wanted to get you for your birthday but couldn't find?" (Kalinga S30V Fixed)
Me: "No".
Mrs: "I will give you the money if it cost the same".
Me: "that's ok...thank you honey".
Mrs: "Does it cost the same?"
Me: "No". (I have learned that short answers work best when dealing with her on this Buck fetish I have)
Mrs: "Well, if it is $100 or less, I will pay for it ok?"
Me: "that's ok".
Mrs: "It cost more than $100 doesn't it?"
Me: "Yep"
Mrs: "how much more?"
Me: "Post Office closes in about a half hour. See ya..."

So, a few days later I come from from a short store run and there is a package on the table. DAMN!!! She asks, "I had to sign for that, what is it?"
My internal response is:   :o

It was the 110 Damascus jigged Buffalo from Dave. I show it to her. She says, "it looks like all your other knives". No questions or comments regarding the price. Either she forgot because of the pain meds, that this is the one I was getting the MO for, didn't put the two together, or she just has given in that I am a hopless case. Any one of them works for me

I sure hope she gets better soon :)

Didn't know Goose, but I hope she is back on her feet soon. My wife was laid up at home after having back surgery in January so I know what you're going through.

Goose ... Glad to hear that she is doing better.
Money order's....cool.:D Thanks Goose.
Let us know if you get that kalinge 30sv.

Gosh Goose...I had no idea your wife was under the weather. I hope she's out of bed and feeling good soon. I had to nurse my wife for the better part of a month last year, so I sorta know what you're going through (and her). Oh yeah...my condolences to you and your suffering with full disclosure. That damascus 110 sounds sweet though!

What is it with women and knives? My wife and all her friends say the same thing. It bugged me so much one time that I ended up showing one of her girlfriends all the differences so she'd know the difference between a version one and a 3rd version 2nd variation 110, etc. :D She doesn't bother me anymore!
