Sitting in the waiting area right now!

I was batoning some wood with my ASH-1 SE. Holding the wood with my left hand I chopped down with my right.... and missed. Felt the hit, thought my glove saved me, but then I saw the slice in the glove. The knife is literally hair whittling sharp, and from what I can tell, chopped down to the bone. Still moving my finger fine, but I definitely need stitches. Pics to follow!

Ouch!!!!
It's good you can move the finger.
Going to be real sore though, Hope you
have a quick recovery!!

You're supposed to hit the knife spine with a piece of wood, not your hand with the knife!!!!
Sorry...couldn't resist! ;)
I hope the damage will be much less than you think. Don't move the hand any more or wiggle the fingers til the doc says so. You want to avoid any further muscle, tendon & nerve damage.
Let us know how it goes...and many of us are still recovering from drinking last night/today...so no rush on the pix!! ;);)

ATTA BOY!!!!!

Starting the New Year off right

Hope you heal quick, and get some good pain killers as well :D

I hope the damage isn't bad and you have a speedy recovery!!!

Ooooooweee! Get it taken care of and get pics! Sorry to read you're hurt, and hope it's not too bad.

I... um.. uh... congratulations? :p I don't know, you don't sound as distressed as one would expect. You sound pretty impressed and excited, actually!
Seriously though, glad you're fine enough to be in good spirits!

That sucks, I too am sorry you got hurt. I hope you are better than you thought ,that crap can be scary when you have to take the glove off and look for the first time.
I would like to see the pics (maybe I`m sick but I know it`s not just me).

I hope you heel quickly and without tendon or nerve damage I still have no feeling in one of my fingers and limited mobility with it from a accident last year.

Hey, it could have been worse. You could have had to go get stitches from a cutco knife or something. (my brother in law had to go get stitches from the cutco knives he bought his parents).

No stitches for me this year, or last, so I am doing great! My last visit to the ER involved severed nerves, in my right thumb, and a recommendation for surgery by a specialist (which I neglected to do). The right half of the thumb is still numb, but it is still working, and that is what is important!
Although, I have had to adjust how I use the mag release on many of my firearms. The side of the thumb that is numb is the part that releases the mag, so I doubt I will ever be a world class competition shooter......

Was thinking of picking up an ASH but now I think I'll pass. I mean if it won't even remove a finger it can't be trusted for use on zombies ( cue the Cold Steel videos). Seriously though, hope the finger is back to normal quickly.

Eh, I keep a cool head. Not one to cry over spilled milk, and from what I could tell, it wasn't TOO serious.
Your busse had nothing to do with you going to the er
Not blaming the knife, it was totally my fault, and I learned my lesson. I had never batoned wood before, and this was definitely a lesson learned about technique.
OMG! Sorry, guy! Hope it wasn't your trigger finger!
Nope, wrong hand! I unfortunately sign my name lefty though, and as a finance manager I need to do that 70 or so times on a busy day, so that is the bad news.
Oh, and real me use Crazy Glue plus duct tape!
Normally I do everything I can to avoid the hospital, but in this case, it was bad. It took 8 stitches, and I am still working on my stitching technique.

Ask and you shall recieve! I didn't snap any nasty, open wound pics, so just a few of the aftermath:

And one of the aftermath. This is where I was standing when I took my glove off, wasn't there all that long:
