My Busse landed me in the ER!

Sitting in the waiting area right now!

I was batoning some wood with my ASH-1 SE. Holding the wood with my left hand I chopped down with my right.... and missed. Felt the hit, thought my glove saved me, but then I saw the slice in the glove. The knife is literally hair whittling sharp, and from what I can tell, chopped down to the bone. Still moving my finger fine, but I definitely need stitches. Pics to follow!

i did the same exact thing with the same exact knife. on the same finger... dont hold the wood.

^^^^I like that pic!^^^^  That should be your profile pic here on BF.

Glad your finger is in one piece!

Yea, hope you feel better bro. I have been there a few times now.......Doesn't look too bad, but that definitely sux. I did it one time, lost nerves in my thumb. then, did it again, and lost feeling in my pinky! Thats what happens i guess when we play with knives.

No Regrets!

No regrets and I consider it a lesson learned. I stabbed myself with an Emerson Super CQC-7 a few months back and learned a lesson then too, but that's a different story. And alcohol was involved then.

And I should add- I am just glad I wasn't using my equally-as-sharp-but-much-heavier-HHFSH.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- ouch

Heal fast bro!
Bad Left Hand!

Did this in September, nerve severed and "repaired," still numb but nowhere too important and it still works good...

Umm.... Happy New Year?? :o

Wow, that pic of the blood drops is pretty cool though!

Seriously, welcome to the "INFI love-bite" club, I am glad to hear it wasn't worse and I hope you heal quickly.

And yes, a heavier chunk of INFI might have required reattachment instead of just repair of that finger.

This reminds me, I guess my resolution is to not seriously cut myself this year. Especially, after catching a Mojo below the knee in 2010 and a chainsaw on the kneecap in 2011, both of which healed very nicely with the use of superglue, bandaids, listerine, hydrogen peroxide and neem oil. The stitches from the ER for the bite from the Mojo actually slowed down the healing process since they weren't put in below the skin and it kept ripping open, so I didn't even bother with them for the chainsaw wound. I learned to keep gorilla superglue tubes and bandaids in every vehicle and my first aid kits. Everyone told me I was crazy for using listerine to cleanse an open wound since it was only for your mouth. However the logic of using it in your mouth, where the fastest absorbing part of your body is under your tongue, which is why they make heart patients put nitro pills there, fails the logic test to prove the difference between using it to kill germs in the mouth or in the flesh.

2010 Mojo bite to the bone, nicked the tendon and just missed a big vein according to the doc.

With superglue

The deceiving little cut in the jeans which hid that wound from immediate view.

2011 Chainsaw cut on the kneecap of the same leg a little over a year later, the bone sure is shiny white. ;)

2012 To look at it, you would think I didn't like my left leg or something, and that's my good one.
But both wounds healed up fine, as this is how it looks now. Hopefully I can keep it looking this good. :p

Stay safe!

Ahhh - nice- nice - nice...... Considering it was a medium sized Busse, you are lucky to still have that finger connected. I am convinced that a good Busse chopper could take a leg off if you are not careful!

But it was a clean cut and should heal well - take it easy with it and give it time to ... reconnect. :)

...Or a CGASH-1. As thick as they are (.32"), they are some of the sharpest Busse's I have. Glad you were wearing gloves, and that the damage will heal. It's all fun & games 'til someone loses a finger...! ;)
