My First Custom Order..

Yes, it's rather interesting for me, too:) I'll keep checking the Buck thread to see if anyone receives the latest Customs...

Thanks for the Russian Knife info and I hope your knife arrives in time. The time frame looks to be good for you and very likely it will be in time.

Just to make sure, it might be wise to check on it in a few weeks, explain your departure date and I'm sure they will get it to you.

allenC, I'm going back to Russia:)
I like American production knives more then Russian ones (we do have some great custom makers, but the prices are quite the same as for American customs). So, as for production knives I prefer American (very important - preferably made in USA ) ones. I was into some tactical "gadgets", like MT Troodon, Scarab, HALO, but found them TOO expensive to use. Then suddenly I looked at a classic Buck 110, liked it very much. But disliked brass bolsters and 420HC steel. I believe it's the best 420 money can buy, but I wanted something more "hi-tech":) My hobby is sharpening blades as scary as possible, I relax and meditate sharpening blades with waterstones:) Hope to resharpen my Custom Buck 110 soon (if I don't like factory grind)
I would love to travel to Russia one day.
You probably have already discovered that Russia holds a great mystique for most of us Americans who grew up during the Cold War.

And I'm glad that you like the Buck 110.
The USA has produced some great things and some not so great things....but the Buck 110 is definitely something that we can be proud of.
I hope that you will like your Custom Shoppe 110, and I hope that it will serve you well for many years to come.

Allen.

allenC, thanks:)
There are some things which have become classic, American Zippo lighters were those ones for me, my old Zippo lighter is scratched very much, but I like it - bought it like 6-7 years go in Russia (I've just ordered a new one here and some for my friends-smokers). And I guess Buck 110 is one of Natural American Classics - as I have mentioned, I paid attention to it recently, just got tired of aluminum and titanium handles. I'd never have thought that I'd love this sort of knives:) This one will be my first folder with no thumb stud.... Was gonna buy a stock 110 with 420HC and brass bolsters, but the Custom Shoppe had began working again:)
I'm a scientist, a researcher doing lots of fieldwork in summer, so I'm going to use my 110 properly:)
