My first Glock

Ok, now for the obvious question......where the hell is Glockman in this thread?? :D

Don't worry about the flier....The best editors and testers at Guns and Ammo with bench rests and sandbags with the gun clamped down to a thousand pound table still get fliers.

I wear Glock underwear and Glock pajamas. I eat Glock cereal. I drink my coffee out of a Glock mug, and my wiskey from a Glock shotglass. I stand in front of the mirror for hours on end and make cool poses.......with my Glock. When I die, I'll be buried with my Glock in my hand, my Glock tee-shirt on and in a Glock shaped coffin.

Sorry, I got a little carried away.Yea, I really love those Glocks.

Oh yea, plus one on the Fobus holsters.

I have a few Fobus holsters and they are a little on the flimsy side if you ask me. I prefer using the Blackhawk Serpa paddle holsters.

The scary thing about this statement is that, except for the cereal and the coffin, all of those things probably really do exist.

agreed. i had a fobus holster that broke the first time i wore it.

inexpensive, but for a bit more the blackhawk and bladetech holsters offer much better quality and versatility.

As everyone else said, you can't go wrong with a Glock. I have a 19 (9mm) and it is my favorite handgun hands down. I have 1911s, but the Glock is my go to gun. I just wish they made the smaller version with a single stack and a little thinner. If they did, I'd get rid of my Kahr.

His coffin will just be an oversized older Tupperware case.

+1 on the Glock single stack.

All that said and despite the screen name---I really prefer my S&W M&P9 and Sig 226---not a fan of the plastic holsters---give me leather every time--preferably horsehide.

For over 30 years my all time favorite self defense gun has been the 1911. I have a Gold cup that I have used for over 30 years for carry and also combat matches. I have only fired 100 rounds through the Glock so far but I can see it becoming my favorite. I also see that they make a conversion for the Glock to fire .22's from it. Shortly after I picked up the Gold Cup I also picked up an Ace conversion and really have enjoyted using it. I may wind up getting a conversion kit for my Glock as well at some point.

Is what I've been carrying for years in an urban environment. I'm good at close ranges and instinctive shooting, but I go with my 1911 for non-urban trips... I just shoot better with it in any circumstance...

Glock pistols rule!... I also have a model 27 (as well as a model 20 & 23). Get yourself the Pearce Grip +2 extender for your magazines, an "Agrip" for the frame, and some 125 grain Federal HP, and you'll be set.

Your G27 will serve you well. It is my on duty backup gun and my usual off-duty carry. Durable, light, fires rather accurately for its size, uses G22 or G23 mags, etc., etc.

Well chosen!

is the 20 the full size version or the compact one in 10mm?

Didn't notice where this was actually stated...the Model 29 is the compact 10mm...comparable in size to the Model 30 .45ACP compact which is what I carry. These both use double-stack magazines which can accept the higher capacity mags from the full size models of the same caliber. The Model 36 on the other hand is a single stack compact .45ACP.

Thanks, I will check those items out.

I am a big fan of the Glock 21. I got mine when I was still in high school and they were new to the country, all made in Austria -- say 1991ish? I still love it.
Although I traded away a Smith 745 for it - a trade I have regretted ever since.

I read somewhere, I think it was someones sigline:

"A 1911 is the gun that you show to your friends, the Glock is the gun you show to your enemies."

In my classes, anyone using a FOBUS struggles, especially in the SpeedSkills classes.

This is due to a variety of reasons. The only fix is to replace the FOBUS with something decent.

FOBUS is actually an acronym for: Found Out Being Utter Sh*t

:D

Glock 29, baby! Essentially the same dimensions as the 19, 10 rounds of 10mm, and good firm grip with the Pearce extension. It replaced my 19 as my EDC almost immediately. Check out the Predator holsters, especially if you like IWB carry.

You gotta be kidding me. Glocks are "cute". I think they'd make better doorstops. Nothing (esp. a Glock) can compare to a 1911. Dont hate me ladies, just my opinion. ;) Sorry, could only read so much glock love before my fingers took over. seriously, enjoy your glocks.

i really prefer the glock +2 (IIRC some are for a 9MM and some for a .40, IIRC) floorplate to the pearce, it makes the 27/33 a 12 shooter with one in the bbl, adds enough grip to help ya hang on, doesnt protrude too much, and imho looks better than the pearce.

i too tried the frame thing and it was ok, if i want a larger grip like that i'll just get my 32C though, but if ya only have one gun/want a larger grip i can see it.
