My first gun

I have a 870 wingmaster , that longer barrel makes a hell of an impression . Added an extension tube for a 10 rnd load up .

Jack, the firsg shotgun I ever handled growing up was a 12 gauge 870 Wingmaster. The expresses are a good price but not near the quality. I've put thousands of rounds through that wingmaster and never had a single failure to feed or eject. Great gun.

I've got an 870 Wingmaster too. The wife and I will be going out next Saturday to shoot a 100 clay round at this place for my B-Day. :)

Welcome to the club Sam!

Congrats on the new shotgun! It's a whole lotta fun, but be careful, it's mildly addicitve.

picked up a 20 guage 870 a while back as a home defense gun

Bro if that terrible day ever comes, when you have to defend your family...you'll be glad to have something, but you might wish you'd made a different choice

Oh don't worry, it's not my only choice. The sound of a racking shotgun is the best home defense youll find, but if it came to pulling trigger, a 20 gauge at close range with heavy shot will be more than enough. And I don't miss very often. :)

The main purpose for a 20 gauge is so my wife would learn how to use it. She won't shoot a 12 for whatever reason. And if I'm not home, I wanted something she could use.

A Wingmaster 870 is one heck of a shotgun...good choice.
But I fully understand that 12 Ga is fine for a practiced guy.... but a 12 guage is pretty strong to the shoulder, especially for a lady..... Don't limit your home protection arsenal to one shotgun.....but no matter what, a comfortable option for the Mrs. needs to be part of your strategy....
By the way NRA is a heck of a way to go, including their training.....
And all other values they provide.
I am proud to be a life member.
Consider that as well!

Nothing wrong with a 20 gauge . At 75 yards , a slug will punch thru a 3/4" piece of plywood . I keep mine near by for when the coyotes get a little too brave

We were just out setting up the pigeon thrower last night. Great fun for the whole family. Don't forget hearing protection, and stock up on ammo now, while it's cheap. It will cost almost 75% more in the spring than it does in the fall. Plus, THEY won't take your guns away if you have enough ammo on hand!

The first gun I purchased new was an 870 back in 1968 when I was a sophomore in high school. It was a 3" mag, full choke, and ventilated rib. Cost $159 and I still have it and use it. It has never failed me.

Butch, we got some light wall pipe in the shop, I like that idea. I figure I can buy a standard choke tube that fits the 870, then trim it down then tig on the head, this could be fun :D.........Robert you are 100%!!!!!! I got some flare shells, going to order some of those dragon's breath, and some of the flechette rounds too.

Deker, I got the rest of the 2" rock maple table, the other piece is bigger, about the right size for a small kitchen table.
