Well said!! Ditto!!

If it's any consolation I've had to stich my thumb up after a Randall Made bit me on a climbing trip in the mountains. Had a buddy hold the cut area of my thumb closed, screamed like a two year old when I injected the lidocaine to numb the area (clamping down on a stick doesn't work, believe me) and then started stitching. While stitching up other people is not a big deal for me having to stitch myself back together was a bit disconcerting for me to say the least. But others here are quite correct. That blood letting certainly makes it yours. And I still have that Randall.

I found if you align the two pieces of skin back together, and make sure they are flush.. If you keep some instant superglue on you as an EDC (In small single use squeeze bottles); they make great alternative for stitches. Just flush the skin with water, make sure the skin is symmetrical; and apply a bead to the sides, and work inward; towards the middle of the cut where it is too bloody to glue. Use your finger after you place a couple beads to hold the shape/symmetry of the two lacerated pieces of skin. Then, apply a drop sized amount of superglue to the top of the cut. Wipe a single drop across the whole cut with very little pressure; to spread or glide the drop... Be careful not to glue your finger to your cut... This takes a little practice to get down.

This is a technique used in Vietnam. It is almost as good as stitches, just glue it up. Allow it to dry. Apply large bandage. Done :)

Also... If your cut is very large or wanting to pull apart; apply a thin (1/6 size of a drop) line of superglue a half inch away from the cut, parallel to the cut/laceration.. Then pinch the skin together that is around the cut to create basically a cocoon. You can squirt Neosporin in this and apply a band aid to cover the sides. Clean with Q tip and Neosporin. When the cut has healed after one week - two weeks, pull the glue apart. The glue will wear off in one week and should pull apart on its own. ;) Remember this tip. It could save your life in a survival situation.
