I agree but I’m a bad, wicked, possibly evil and depraved person too.I would run them through the clothes washer on gentle, then put them in the dryer on hi heat.
Maybe the dishwasher wasn’t working properly and did not rinse off the soap.
The OP picture looks like some powder stuck to the blade.
they all go in the dishwasher to get cleaned.
I work in our church kitchen, and run everything from junk to Cutco / Case in a commercial Hobart…no problemo.
It hurts my heart, but volume and timing is everything.
Hate to be that guy, but if looking to shave a few pennies but still get quality, should have went with F.Dicks or even Victorinox over Dexter Russell...
Dime for dime, Every single time... (my 2 cents)
You said it was from a factory store but it looks like a cheap knockoff from you know where to me.

Don’t buy Dexter knives is what I think. If a single trip in the dishwasher causes that? I ain’t got time fo dat. I’m too busy hand washing high-dollar pans.Don't put your knives in the dishwasher. That's what I think.
If it has a riveted or moulded grip it gets had washed. Only tools that go in the dishwasher and butter knives, spoons, forks, and one piece silicone/plastic stuff. How do you feel about putting spreaders, cake servers, turners, spatulas, carving forks or dough knives in the dishwasher?
All for sale at Dexter Russell, all made out of DEXSTEEL, and I bet you wouldn’t think twice about those objects in the dishwasher.
