I was considering a version of a hand axe as a partner to this.. but I think the factors that made the hand axe effective for so meany years might be difficult to reporduce with steel..
A.. while the hand axe had a thin edge the body was broad and weighty enough to fill a fist or in some cases enough to be grasped by to hands.. the density gave the short object weigt i needed to provide force when chopping.. I also think some models.. had diffferent edges (ie) a course main edge for chopping and a sharp rounded edge for skinning, and a point for drilling....
..However in addition to the 2.0 model of the the this design.. I amd taking many attributes of both a hand axe and an ulu into consideration while designing it;s heavy work horse partner..
I have give some though to the scales.. I really like them but I;m wondering if the knife would be better serviced by a series or holes throughout the handle to provide different traction points for the fingers when using varied grips... I'lldraw a picture later and post it.
