My modified CGBB13

Although I applaud Ptac for his killer mods, I'm in the camp of not erasing any finished edge.

One thing that area can be used for is using the blade draw-knife style-- one of the best ways I've found to use my 1311.

Drawknifing bark off tent poles is very enjoyable...like carving ham for sammiches...mmm. :)

That's a fair point. I did consider that before I made my decision, and honestly if I had the lighter battle grade version I probably wouldn't have altered it at all. But I don't do a lot of drawknifing and I still have plenty of cutting edge to do it if I need to. It really just started out as a balance issue and I felt like I had too much blade, not enough handle. Like I said, it's not for everybody but perfect for me. I've been using it for notching, carving and light craft chopping and absolutely love it.

That's what I dig, making them what we want them to be. My takeaway from this is just how far one can go for shine if they want to! That's the most amazing part of it all. I've made some Infi and SR shine, but wow, that's so far above and beyond I'm in awe - I don't pick up any waves in the reflections at all which gives away any flaws :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks mate, it really is just a matter of how much time you want to put into it. I'm a knifemaker myself so I just found a method that works for me and doesn't take forever to do. With a little practise, you can get quite precise with the buffer and sanding discs. If I wanted to sell or display this knife I would have probably spent twice the time on it and got it near perfect. It sure beats hand sanding lol

image.jpeg image.jpeg A quick update, I've been putting this thing through its paces and made a few final changes to my initial mods. I think I'm finally satisfied. Put in a shallow choil and extended the grind back down towards the handle. It now weighs 22.8 ounces and I am absolutely loving how it feels

That looks spectacular!!
The mirror polish is so good, it makes any imperfection on my screen stand out like crazy. Might have to save this pic for future screen cleanings....

Thanks man. The earlier pics were when the polish was at its best. After doing the most recent mods I didn't bother trying to get it perfect again so there are a lot of visible scratches now. But it's still reflective. I've been giving this blade hell lol
