My New Bradford Guardian 3

I'll jump in here too:
I have been very impressed working with Brad, both in getting a knife and resolving a problem I had with a sheath.

My Guardian 3 (m390 with the 3d Gwood scales) was the first fixed blade I bought to actually carry almost daily (as opposed to a few Moras which live near the kindling pile, in a backpack, or in a drawer). I really like using it. It feels great in the hand, and has served me well so far for everything from food prep to fire prep to cutting loose threads off my kids clothes. I did spend a few minutes to add a little lanyard/fob to it to make it easier to grip and pull from the sheath, which improved my ability to easily extract it from either the leather or kydex sheaths.

Enjoy the knife and have fun,
Mike

I'm adding a "tail" with a small CF fob bead for that. It actually fits my hand perfectly which is surprising since I have XL+ size hands.
I wanted a CF bead but I don't have any money left to play with right now.

Does anyone has a blackwash with black micarta to show
I am quite interested in this configuration ;)

I got kydex for mine last week (came in Monday, bought on the 4th of July sale) and my G3 cut the crap out of my yesterday playing with it!

How do you like the kydex? Better than the leather? Did you get the Taco?
Love it! It's an armatus sheath, not factory (so yes, it's taco style). Just don't put your sharp-bit finder in the recess while you draw it!

I didn't like the leather at all so it's eons better!

Great blade and company to work with.

The handle was a tad too short for me. I needed about 1/4" more or perhaps not cut out for the lanyard.

The 4, however, fits me like it was custom made for me. The 3D micarta scales on that one are pure joy to work with. The blade came crazy sharp. I think it's my favorite all time knife right now.

I'm glad seeing this thread and everyone liking them so well ... I know I've not been able to put down my Guardian 4 with the Micarta since I got it ... its been awhile since I had that little kid at Christmas feeling from a knife ... but this one has me looking for reasons to use it

I was a wondering if the 3 would be a bit small for my hand like Trained Bullets mentioned but the 4 feels like it was molded for my hand so I think I'll give the 3 a chance and maybe just a small tied fob or a little mod will work.

There's a substantial difference between the size of the G3 and G4. Let me see if I can find the picture....

Is the 3 comfortable to use with a 3 finger grip on the handle ... pinky maybe at the bottom or do you find it uncomfortable to use? Or do you find hot spots using it?

Then my other question would be maybe a tied fob would add just enough to feel like your hold allowed all 4 fingers to wrap around the handle?

I ask because as imptessed as I am with the 4 I think the 3 would make a great EDC fixed blade if you can get a comfortable grip.

I own a G3 in M390 with the checked blue/black G10 that I bought from friend on the Exchange. I love the knife. It's with me everywhere, riding in my backpack and it gets used at work often. It's a perfect 3 finger grip knife.

Thanks RevDevil ... I figured as good as the 4 feels the 3 would probably feel good even if a bit small.
And I think it would make a great fixed blade EDC ... I think that will be towards the top of my list to try soon.

Personally I don't find the G3 comfy in a 3 finger grip, I have to choke up with my index finger in the choil to be able to use it.

Brad is a great guy to deal with and puts out a very good product (I'm a fanboy:thumbsup:). I have a G3 with micarta handles and N690 steel- love it. I went with his Kydex sheath and really like it; the leather sheath is nice as well but I think this knife deserves the Kydex. Great for EDC, and if you read the forums there aren't too many fixed blades that get mentioned for EDC. All in all, you can't go wrong. I'm sure he might have his reasons but I'm curious why he doesn't participate on this forum (which is also great, BTW).
