It is a bit of a conundrum. The lock that best keeps your fingers safe is the one that can put them in danger at another time. The difference being, this lock will protect you from injury when the lock is engaged, which is the greater injury should it fail (ah-ha! aha-ha!). It boils down to user error, which no blade can truly account for.

Just as sure as the lock will never fail when it engages, is just as sure that it snaps like a steel trap when closed. Keep those fingers on the upper choil, your finger scar commands!
