My new Grohmann!

I'll wait til the boat knife kit gets in and post pics of assembly, and a side by side shot. May be a week or two though.

Yea you can never have to many Grohmann knives:D

Several years ago I called Grohmann knives and asked if
they would make a me a # 4 survival with a 7" Blade.
After Lisa ( the lady I talked too she said she would ask
and see if that was ok. A couple of hours later Lisa calls
back and says they can. ) So I ordered it and 21 days later
it was here in Nebraska. It is a pretty cool knife.

I made a sheath for one of my # fours that holds a 4" by half inch
fire steel:D and sharpener:thumbup:
I have two more a #3 and # 4 flat grinds and in carbon steel.
But my Nephew has them in fact he had the # 4 on his belt today.
Because I carry these every day

he wanted to carry a belt knife too. When I came back from cutting trees
today he just had to show me what he was carrying on his belt. He was not carrying that # 4 when I left this morning soooo that copy cat:D
Well for those who have there Grohmann knives enjoy them.

Sicily,
Are those orange-scaled ones Grohmann's or BRKT Canadians? The larger one looks like a Canadian Camp knife and the smaller one maybe a Canadian SPecial

Sicily02 just loves Canada!:D;)
I saw pictures of that huge survival a while back and was hoping you would pop in, I bet it chops really well.
I wonder if a boat knife would work as a 6 or 7 inch blade:confused:

Liam Ryan yea that bigger # 4 is sweet. Heck that knife will slice and dice carve fuzz sticks, peel potatos and holds a very nice edge. I have battoned it through seasoned
wood rounds 4" or less ( mulberry, ash, red elm, locust, hedge apple, oak, birch. you get the idea ) with great success. As for the boat knife it will not split as big a round as the 7" knife does but it will do 3 inch rounds just fine I have really hammered on these knives and have not had one fail yet. Most people would find that these knives are great knives.
That shape of the # 1 and 4 I really like it is just an all purpose design I think.
The bark river have the orange scales I wish Grohmann did offer that too. They are easyer to see if you drop on or set it down. Great color for survival situations
Take care

That is a sweetheart for sure. I didn't know they would make customs if you asked nice. Maybe if enough of us want a bigger #4, they will make it a stock item?

Yea that would be great to call up Grohmann and order a # 4 survival
with a 7" or so blade and with orange handles too:D Here is a pic
that I took today while cutting trees. Today in Nebraska we started to
have a winter storm and winds were blowing at around 20 mph or so.
We cut trees on a side of a hill for about three and a half hours before
deciding to go get some hot coco:D take a look at the four knives I stuck in to a tree. The top knife is a brown handled Grohmann # 4 survival.
The second knife is a Chris Reeves Mountaineer II with a balck handle.
The next two knives are the orange handle Bark Rivers Canadian Camp
knife with the 6.5 inch blade and below that is the Canadian Special with the
4 inch blade. Can you imagine grabbing for your knife and it not being there:eek: It is snowing and blowing and you are looking for your knife
yuck !!!!! That orange really shows up.

I really like the blaze orange too, I put orange paracord on everything.

Maybe if several of us wanted a 7 inch #4 the price would go down.
I will look into it while you guys mull it over.

I'd say flat ground carbon would be the way to go for a chopper, but they would probably grind em any way you want.

Well now you've made me go out and get some decent company for my folder - #1 in carbon purchased from the Scout Store. Gotta love 'em:

Finished it up with the Sharpmaker ultra-fine rods - the hairs on my legs are committing suicide just at the very sight of the #1. I'm impressed with their carbon.

They really do make some great stuff. Just tell your hairs to chill. Getting cut ain't
so bad LOL.
