My new ZDP Leek

Remember now, we have only sent out 300 pieces, the balance (650 pieces) is going out in 3 weeks or so.

Knifecenter has them in stock advertised for $149. I think some retailers are starting to put together the equation that ZDP knives = high demand. Still, anywhere below MSRP is doing good judging from what happened with Spyderco's sprint runs.

This batch got spread out very well considering it was pretty small sized. Joe L.

I recieved my first of two today. It was worth the wait and the price. Calling it a "gentlemans" knife isn't really off the mark here. The light weight of the titanium and thin blade stock make it suitable for that purpose, as does it's understated good looks and purposefull design.

I wouldn't reccomend testing to destruction this low numbers sprint run of exotic frame metal and hyper alloy steel. I bet it's a lot stronger than it's low weight and smallish/medium size would suggest to some though.

To me, I'm going to use it like I do my titanium light weight .38 sp. revolver. When I'm wearing light clothing and don't want it to sag my sweat pants but need a very sharp, strong, reliable , easy to deploy folder when I'm in the woods with the dogs, or the park, etc and have one hand for leashes, and one to cut off the Ivy or brambles that's tying up my dogs leashes before they hurt themselves, pull off their collars and go for a run, stuff like that.

Thomas, Thanks for a great knife. Kershaw just put the bar up a bit higher and I for one am glad of it. Regards, Joe L.

Mine should be here today now. I work in an ER and it will reside in the pocket of my scrub pants. I will use it for the extrememly important duties of opening boxes of suture, flushes, etc. while I am stocking rooms. This will probably be as rough as I get with it. I would like to have one to keep pretty but that seems like a waste of a good knife. I only have a couple of drawer queens. This won't be one. By the way the ER is full of sheeple, whenever I pull out my Small Sebenza people freak out and say I shouldn't have a weapon in a hospital.
Patiently waiting,
Jason

Mine won't be a safe queen either!! I just got it in and I love the design. The grinds are noticably better than my S30V version.

My only complaint is that the lock sticks. It takes alot of force to release the lock. I hope as it breaks in this goes away. In my opinion it feels like the materials are so hard that they cannot slide like they are supposed to. I have had no problem with my SS framelock.

Quit yer whinin', and learn a little knife care, noob!;)

Seriously, trick that I got from Bob Lum via another forum, use a graphite pencil, rub the "lead" on the lock face. It will take away the "stickiness".

Best Regards,

What a simple solution. That worked great!! Now it works just like my SS. Thank You for the advice Kohai. Now I really like this knife!

I do have one other complaint however - They are grinding the edge at a very high angle. I don't have any way to test this, but I would guess a 20 degree primary per side. My S30V has a 12 degree primary and it's bevel is HUGE compared to the ZDP-189 one. With this angle the S30V version cuts like a razor.

Come on Kershaw, this is supposed to be super steel. I would expect at least a 15 degree primary, maybe even 10 and then the end user could put a microbevel on it. I have been running 10-12 degree primary(Edgepro) per side with a 15 degree microbevel(Sharpmaker). I don't want to put my expensive new knife straight on the wetstone.

Other than that this is a great knife.

So is there any leads on where you can purchase one? Or is it all gone?

Edit: I got one on order from eBay. Should be here this week. WOOOHOOOO!

I just ordered one from newgraham a few minutes ago. Be quick, because they won't last.

knifecenter has it for $149. I wish kershaw made the clip titanium just to fit the titanium handle. Any one know how I can get a titanium clip made?

After carrying this knife for half the day I like it better than the stainless. I like that the titanium provides better grip than the SS. The satin finish on the SS version is a little too slick IMO. Even though it is smooth the slight texture of the titanium grips my skin better.

I love the way the grind rounds off near the handle. You can see it in the pics, but you really notice it in person. Because it is ground better it has a longer blade - It goes closer to the handle. It is hard to see in the pics, but side by side it is easy to see. I think this will be my EDC for a while.

Ngk had a few left in stock, so I pulled the trigger. Let's see what all the fuss is about.:D
