WW that dog really is cute. My wife and I are thinking about getting a dog. My daughter would lose her mind if we did. We just missed out on a Shepherd/Boxer/Lab mix.

Thanks man. And you should do it!! Im very glad i got this little guy.

I use to have a boxer/lab mix, they called him a boxador when we got him. Smart dog.

Sorry to hear you're feeling blue Granite. My prayers are with you and your family as you transition back into work as well as keeping work and home life balanced. Keep smiling friend

Thats what I was initially thinking, or something like the LCR in .22 or .22mag... .22 -.32 is going to be all she could probably handle in a pistol. Maybe .380 but that can be pretty snappy in a smaller gun. Plus the LCR.22/mag would be light, easy, etc etc. Trigger is an issue though. I am just going to have to take her to a big gun store and let her try some things out.

light guns are much harder to shoot. Does it need to be small/light for carry? My opinion is that you should generally pick the heaviest gun you can for the purpose and then pick caliber from there. What feels 'nice and light' in the gun store kicks like a mule at the range.

.22mag isn't great from a short barrel. in a 4" revolver barrel SOME loads will be better than a .22LR, but the report without muffs (SD scenario) is brutal. I'd go for a heavier subsonic instead.

I got my mother a .410 shotgun for home use. She probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with a pistol/revolver, but she digs the whole "point and click" :D approach of the shotgun. I told her I can patch any holes she might have to make.

Plus, we got like 6" of snow today, and even though the doc and the PT's say "no shovelling" I'll be out there tomorrow am making sure I can get my car outta the (luckily quite short) driveway.

Please be careful with that back. Follow the doctor's orders to a T on the rehab/PT - I have a sister who had surgery due to a broken back. She did the PT religiously and she is OK. I have a cousin who said "it was a chore to do", "a pain in the butt to do" and a half a dozen other excuses. Now he bitches about bad his back hurts all the time. His herniated disk was not where near as bad as my sister's "broke in 2 places" back. Got no sympathy for him in that at all. And I can't tell you how many times in 23+ years we made EMS calls on folks who "did more than the doc said they could", did stuff the doc said NOT to do during recovery/rehab, etc, etc, etc....... DO NOT DO S%^& THAT THE DOCTOR SAID NOT TO DO. PERIOD. IT IS VERBOTTEN!!!!!!! And no, I was not yelling. I was screaming my head off. :D I'm as serious as a heart attack. You only have 1 back - do NOT "F" it up. You do NOT want to make me drive all the way to NH in a Prius to kick your backside.

PT

Pain + Time

do not think you're done with PT when the *doctor* says you are

you just acquired basically a lifetime hobby. even years later, you might need touch ups.

do your PT. learn your body and your pain while you're at it.

then do more PT.

the stronger you get, the stronger you should become

bodies are cool - exercise, even a little, is wondrous.

take up hot yoga in a hot room :> mmm. mmm.

nothing feels so good as having your body back

Hey, just to add to Zygote's advice, DON'T DO STUFF THE DOCTOR TOLD YOU TO AVOID! My brother broke his wrist about 6 months before his wedding, and he's an airline pilot, and he didn't follow the doctor's advice. BAD THING! He nearly lost his job, had to go through an extra year of rehab and in general learned a very important lesson. If you need a specific body part to work/live/enjoy life, you don't risk it needlessly!

Yes, he had a great time drinking and riding four wheelers in the desert (I mean, who wouldn't? Hold my beer will ya!) but once he wrecked, ya got to stop! His doctor told him not to do certain things and to MAKE SURE he DID do other things, to rehabilitate his hand. He scoffed and did what he wanted and waited for the cast to come off. Well, they had to rebreak his wrist and then put him through rehab for it before he finally regained enough strength to hold a paperback book.

His stupidity could have cost him his career and earned him a life of crippling pain. Don't let your stupidity (if that's the case) ruin yours!

We got some more snow this morning. Dog likes it... I dont.

Been really busy the last week, just had time to do some quick lurking :) WW, that's a hellava pup right there. Makes me want to get another dog myself, although we've just officially gotten out of the puppy stage with my mutt. Glad the training is going well too.

I'd like my dog to experience snow one day, but that's just not gonna happen in tropical Queensland, so might have to do a road trip down south one day.

Made this yesterday. Thought it turned out pretty decent:

That's not exactly a perfect example, but... it's amazing to me, the amount of time, money and effort people will put into inexpensive guns and knives, especially those that were originally designed to be basic and affordable... I'm not against it, I just think it's interesting.

check it out!

New episodes coming soon!

Thanks for the power user tips, gentlemen. It's funny that you should say I've "basically just acquired a lifetime hobby", b. My bro (who did not have surgery on his ruptured disc) has become certified as a cross fit instructor...... because he wanted to keep his back healthy so he could surf. I won't do anything dumb... It's just.... difficult, is all. The pig pile of life, as it were. Thanks again for all the great advice and cheerios. It is absolutely beautiful outside right now, despite the fact that I HAVE TO go push some snow out of the way, carefully. Gonna try and snap some photos to post up later.

But does it come in green to match my eyes?
