my two day old Ti-Lock is ruined (for now)

Hahaha "first world priorities." Buy something else for yourself before paying the working men and women who fixed your knife. Awesome!

No I haven't even paid for the repairs yet. Haven't had a check in 3 weeks but just sold my damascus large CF so I'll pay it tomorrow after I hopefully find a one piece to buy.

I too work construction and understand its feast or famine...having said that you may want to rethink your priorities on buying another knife before paying CRK's bill first. They work very hard for all of us and it's not their fault your TI lock was mistreated. Id never tell anyone how to spend their money just a suggestion of integrity is all.

Then don't suggest to anyone how to spend their money.

Fair enough, I was out of line. I just couldn't help myself from posting after listening to you complain about a measly $90. Then see you posting wtb adds for other CRK's. Almost like I couldn't help my attempt to deter you from posting random pictures in the anticipation thread.

How dare I take up for american businesses we all love so much! I mean, they have unlimited amounts of money. They dont have electric bills, mortgage payments, payroll or equipment costs. They just build and fix knives in crk fairyland!

Get over yourself dude.

why send it in, if you can't pay for the repair

Since you feel so obliged to open your mouth too I'll answer your question. After talking to people in private who've delt with CRK more than once, I didn't expect to pay over $100 to get my knife fixed and returned. When I received this email from them it certainly didn't sound like there would be much of a fee either. I've never had benchmade or spyderco just go ahead and fix a knife then send a bill once it's done, both companies have looked at the damage and contacted me with a choice, pay a fee to have the knife fixed or have it returned in the condition it was sent.

And for the lowly Hawks fan, $90 may be a measly amount of money to you but it's certainly not to me, especially in the winter months. I wasn't going to buy another one piece until next year and didn't want to sell my CF/Basketweave 21 but when I need to pay $105 to get my Ti-lock back and have no other way to pay it quickly, a knife goes up for sale. With around $500 leftover I want to get a one piece to replace the sebenza now.

If I let that Ti-Lock sit repaired at CRK for the next 3 months and buy 3 brand new knives it's none of your care. Not your knife, money or company so keep your idiotic comments to yourself.

Well we were all thinking it I'm just the one who said it [emoji6].

Ps. If you ask CRK to let you know the cost before any repairs are done they will do so.

Actually, it's all of our "care". If everyone treated CRK the way that you are, they (CRK) would be out of business and quickly. You asked them to perform a service for you and have stated that you sent a letter describing how you broke it. Yes, you broke it. You handed it to someone who didn't know how to operate it and it was broken. 100% your fault. It wasn't a manufacturing defect or materials failure. You couldn't have honestly thought they would fix that for free. Now, you haven't paid for the services performed despite openly trying to buy or trade for new knives. I have dealt with CRK extensively and they have always been honest with me about what something is going to cost. They send that same email to everyone who sends a knife in. If you had asked them if there was going to be a charge they would have told you. Or, you could have requested that they contact you before any repairs were done that there was going to be a fee for. They would have done so, believe me.

Obviously there would be some cost to perform the repair, being that it wasn't a manufacturing defect, but that's irrelevant. No matter the amount, repair cost should always be discussed before any repairs are made. Service industry 101. Sorry to hear about your Ti-Lock, but lesson learned. Non knife people don't need to handle $400+ knives.

pwrdbycotn has pretty much hit the nail on the head. Most of us work hard for our money. Nobody gave me a damn thing in life other than a good set of principles and proper ethical behavior (my mother and my father). Chris and Anne Reeve are no different. They weren't born with silver spoons in their mouths and worked damned hard to build their business into what it is today sacrificing more than most of us will ever know. And as someone the same age as Chris Reeve your statements and behavior in YOUR screwup speak louder than words about YOUR principles and ethics. A bigger jackass I've never seen. And it wouldn't matter who had produced this knife.

Sorry pal, it's not anyone's care but mine and, since it hurt's CRK so much, theirs too. Why any of you decided to jump in with Hawk boy's attitude when he blew things out of proportion are beyond me but that's how the forums go.

When I need to sell a knife i dont want to sell so I can pay for a knife "I" broke, what's the difference if I buy a knife with the money or not? Why do you or anyone care? It has no affect on you and if you think that when I buy a OPK tomorrow before I pay the repair fee will hurt CRK, you're delusional. I'm buying a OPK to replace my CF/Basketweave before anything. My money, my decision. If I buy a $300 knife tomorrow then great I'll have the money left over to pay for MY Ti-lock. If I buy a $550 OPK tomorrow then too bad so sad, MY Ti-lock will have to wait 3 more days until I have an income again, I sure hope CRK isn't forced into Bankruptcy because of it.

Exactly the response we all expected. I wonder how your employer would feel if their customers paid whenever they felt like it instead of whenever the work was done? My guess is they would feel broken and bankrupt, literally. On the bright side, you would get to go find a new and exciting job because your current employer would no longer be able to pay you.

I'm thinking the $500 on most anybody else would be better spent on a Basic Economics 101 class. I'm quite certain now that you'd never pass the course if you can't see how your actions affect the bottom line of any business. It has nothing to do with bankruptcy.

Hey dubya3 since you've chosen to think up a few nicknames for me I suppose that makes you fair game? I now deem you as "da3".
Let's not forget who started this thread so we could "keep our comments to ourselves". What exactly were you looking for out of this?

Lost cause fellas...

The OP was a thread looking for sympathy due to his new personal property being damaged by an unwitting hand (FWIW, if I pay $500 for a knife, I expect it to be able to withstand the "abuse" of someone screwing around with it. If it's THAT fragile, imagine what hard use could do to it.)

Then the original poster states that he requested repair, which was completed, and now he can't afford to pay for the completed repair 'cuz times are tough and he had to sell a knife TO BUY ANOTHER KNIFE.

Now, he's mad that other forum members are calling him out on this behavior (after they gave him the sympathy he was asking for).

A sense of entitlement like that among so many people is what will keep me employed for a long time...

dubya3, I have no desire to argue with you, but you are out of line here - both in your treatment of CRK and in the way you are treating others posting in this thread. I humbly suggest you cool down and re-read the last dozen or so posts tomorrow.

My guess is the guilty party thought the blue Ti leafspring was suppose to pivot upward and gave it a yank upwards. The same type of force applied to the lockbar on a Sebenza would ruin it too.
