My wife want a knife. Suggestions?

If she really likes your Sog maybe you should look into a Sog Field pup. It is a slicing machine that works way better than a seal pup for camp chores and food prep. Here is a picture of it compared to your seal pup.

Wow that was fast guys! Thanks for the quick replies. She already has a SAK the has a million tools on it and a OHT. She even has a small one on her key ring. The F1 and BRKT sound great for me but she doesn't want something so expensive or regret it if she loses it. I showed her my Mora 2000 she didn't like the feel of it being so light. (I know it'a a very good tool and me on the the other hand like it being light when hiking 10+ miles) The spyderco looks pretty neat, it might be something I might want to acquire one of these days. I too, was looking at the SOG fieldpup for her, read some reviews on it and it seem to be the one. I don't have problems with a Sealpup doing anything around camp and other projects. I guess I just got used to it.

I think she might like the BRKT mini-northstar. It is one of my favorite knives and will fit a woman's hand perfectly.

I second the BRKT mini northstar. It will fit her hand and needs very well I think and she will get a variety of handle materials to choose from.

My GF is half Norwegian and half Manhattanite, so she naturally loves knives. LOVES them. Her eyes just get huge when I bring out some of my larger blades for routine oiling and/or sharpening. When she handles my knives she always tests the points before she tests the edge. She swings them around a little to she how well balanced they are. Nowadays she's got me trained so that when I find a knife I like, I get one for her too. Recently we went shopping for a birthday present for her, and she chose an Ontario Spec-Plus SP-6. For her, a knife is a weapon first and a tool second, and a lady needs to be able to defend herself properly. She likes all of my guns too (the ones she knows about). Who am I to disagree? My SP-6 is about 2-3 years old, and I really like it too. But I pity the fool who messes with my little spitfire. Talk about drawing back a bloody stump...I think she's a zombie hunter in a past life.

I didn't read thru this thread well so somebody may have already said it, but I'd vote a mini north star. Good size for a female.

The Spydie Moran is definitely a decent one. I just wish they hadn't altered the grind on it. My father has one of the older one's that's his pride and joy.

Just got to thinkin' of the fixed blades my own spouse has found to be theft worthy. Brusletto Troll, BK&T 10, Bark River Highland, Bark River Bosnian Skinner.

But...I digress...If she's still shopping the Spydie Moran would be decent.

I've yet to own or handle a Fallkniven, but from what everyone says an F1, H1, or WM would be a pretty worthy consideration.

A Helle Storm also has a rubberized handle....sort of....

Please let us know when the final decision comes!:D

If she is set on a rubber handle on this one, that eliminates several recommendations here. If she drops that requirement, there are hundreds more good knives that fit the rest. But there are good knives listed here with the rubber/Kraton/whatever handles.

Check the blade thickness as well before a final decision. The Fallkniven H1 and probably the F1 is a beast for thickness, but the convex grind lets it slice pretty well.

Not even a question the best short rubber handled knifes are SRKW Howling Rats, on the BF exchange between 150 and 200 US$. Unbreakable and extremely good. You can also look for a SYKCO Yardkeeper which is the new version of the ole Howler (albeit without a choil). A thinner blade can be found on the SRKW Bogdog with a mudder handle, probably the best rat ever but pricey.

Can't understand the fascination in this forum for the F1, lousy handle combined with an acceptable blade, nothing really fancy except the price.

Price, availability, performance, durability, customer satisfaction. Did you personally have a bad experience with one or is you just a fanboy? Everyone else is trying to think of a good knife for the wife. No one else found it necessary to mock someone else's suggestion. Play nice, we are all frends here.

Mora Clipper would've been one of my first suggestions. They're kind of light in weight, too, but have a nice rubberized handle that works well for small hands; they come in stainless or carbon; they'll cost you maybe 11 bucks plus shipping from Ragweed Forge.
