(Yes, I'm still around, just taking it easy as per orders...)

One more thing--can this be done with a wood handle rather than horn? (Seems I always forget that one when NKDE--New Knife Design Envy--takes over.)

The model arrived today and a very good job, Greg. I think this can be made with no problems. I'm going to take a couple of pix and post them and get it shipped off tomorrow to Nepal via ems.

Greg has names this the HIKKS -- Himalayan Imports Kenpo Khukuri Special. He prefers no karda or chakma so that's the way it will be offered. The last 1/3 of the top edge is rounded and not sharp. He wants the edges hardened up pretty much which we'll try to do and says "I did notintend this to be a chopping type of knife."

Again, good job, Greg, and she'll fly tomorrow.

I'm glad everything came through all right. So far i have had very good luck with USPS. There was an earlier post asking about handle material - wood is fine with me, I doubt they can get a hold of micarta although that would be great too!

If there's another knife out there to be modeled let me know as I don't mind doing these from time to time and I have plenty of wood.

Thanks, Greg Z.

How do the kami's plan to harden this knife? Harden both sides and leave the center soft, uniform hardness, or leave the top soft as it is not used as much.

As for name: sinew slasher (that recurve should make it an excellent cutter).

I bought a similar looking knife and payed almsot 4x the price Uncle Bill is asking for.

Looks like I have come in on the end of this topic but here are my two cents. The first thing that popped into my mind:

"Pygmy Punisher"

Might be a little rough but hey, it will get the point across.
