NASCAR ,anyone, someone.... Just me ?

Did Pretty boy ask forgiveness ? Was there a face-off after the race? How did Stewart get so far back?

After the nudge I cut the T/V off in disgust like a spoiled brat & missed this stuff.

Safe racing !

Uncle Alan

Gordon basically said I was faster, I was hungry to get in the chase, he was blocking, I didn't intend to wreck him - just move him, oh well. Kenseth said I was slower, I was blocking, I would have run out of gas anyway (which I did), but the SOB didn't have to wreck me, oh well.

It was pretty clear on the replays that Kenseth was not accelerating coming off the turn because he wouldn't have been able to hold the bottom and he couldn't track out due to the traffic up high, while Gordon was holding the bottom and was hard on the gas from apex. There was nowhere to go up high for either Kenseth or Gordon. So you had a slow car in front, a fast car in back, slow traffic up top. What does anyone expect is going to happen? Either Gordon lifts or he dumps Kenseth - and dump him he did. Kenseth is pretty much a class act and you don't ever see him crying about anything but you could tell he was PO'ed.

The really disgusting behavior was the morons showering the track with beer cans and debris. If they don't understand the basics of the sport they should stick to watching tiddly-winks.

Nope. As usual, he just said all the right things (i.e all the things necessary to keep himself out of Brian France's trailer :) ).

Don't believe so. Kenseth pretty much just took what he had coming like a man.

In his redassedness I believe he forgot that these cars actually need gas to keep running. :D

Payback's a bitch. ;):D

If Danica goes to NASCAR the girls will soon take over !!

Let's not forget about Juan Pablo Montoya- that's pretty big news as well.

Smoke:"oh, but for one more gallon of gas..."
'Overtime' did both he and Kenseth in.

From my perspective, Gordon had a faster car and he would have been able to pass Kenseth in the four final laps without bumping him. At a track like Chicago, if you bump a dude in the turn, you're gonna dump him, duh...Shoulda waited 'til coming out of it or on the straightaway. Not good judgement on fairyboys' part, IMO, but I guess he's got something to prove this year.
W/o that final wreck, Kenseth would have been leading the points and Smoke would've moved up to third, instead second(-51pts.) and 7th respectively...oh well, shoulda, coulda, woulda...

Louden, NH, up next!

I'd just as soon watch soccer. However, the pissing match between Gordon and Kenseth caught my eye on Sportscenter. Maybe their pit crews will get into a brawl. That, I'd watch.

I do kind of like the fact that Three-Nation still lives though.

if you have great potential in one field, for gosh sake's working to improve upon it is totally logical. No point tn checking out the grass in another meadow.

In my memory [albeit fading ] I cannot remember any woman driver that had the potential that she does. I remember Janet Guthrie & Polly whats-her-name but there were several others.

The most determined lady raced at New Smyrna Beach track & compiled many top 5 finishes. She was Granny Tetro AKA doughnut Granny ' cause she had a doughnut shop .

Safe racing !

2. (31) Jeff Burton, Chevrolet, 129.651.
3. (25) Brian Vickers, Chevrolet, 129.626.
4. (5) Kyle Busch, Chevrolet, 129.485.
5. (20) Tony Stewart, Chevrolet, 129.024.
6. (48) Jimmie Johnson, Chevrolet, 128.994.
7. (24) Jeff Gordon, Chevrolet, 128.976.
8. (1) Martin Truex Jr., Chevrolet, 128.828.
9. (41) Reed Sorenson, Dodge, 128.767.
10. (2) Kurt Busch, Dodge, 128.693.

Some other news:

Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart ran the modified series today before the Busch race...Smoke finished 9th and Edwards 39th, kinda neat to see the big-boys drop down several levels and get their fannies beat...Edwards goes on to take the Busch race and celebrated with the obligatory back flip.

Also, yesterday, Stewart pledged his second $1,000,000 contribution to the Victory Junction Gang Camp run by Kyle and Patty Petty. 'Smoke' can be a real hard-ass on the track, but sure is nice to see him give something back.

Finally, rumor has it Bill Elliott may run a full schedule next year as the second driver for the newly formed Red Bull Toyota team, teaming with Brian Vickers....sure would be good to see 'Awesome Bill' from Dawsonville running every week again.

For tomorrow, Swami sez:

1. Jeff Burton
2. Tony Stewart
3. Carl Edwards
4. Kurt Busch
5. Martin Truex Jr.
6. Jeff Gordon
7. Kyle Busch
8. Jimmie Johnson
9. Ryan Newman
10. Brian Vickers

Tony needs a better cushion in the points race . Your projected finish should narrow the gap between he & Johnson . The points cut-off is about 6 weeks away .Tony announced a million donation to Kyle's kid camp. Tough but great heart ? Yep .

Junior, when are you going to win again ?

Safe racing !

Uncle Alan

Well, I guess since 'Smoke' and Jr. crapped out on Sunday, no one wants to talk NNC...big changes in the points...Jr. from 3rd to 7th, just 86 points from being out of the chase and 'Smoke' from 7th to 11th, 11 points...actually out of the chase.
After Johnson and Kenseth, it's a free-for-all and if either one of them has a lost weekend, that 400 pt. barrier could start coming into play and we might have more than 10 in the chase. Gonna be interesting w/ 7 to go.

Updated points:

1 Jimmie Johnson 2789
2 Matt Kenseth 2721 -68
3 Jeff Burton 2478 -311
4 Kyle Busch 2455 -334
5 Mark Martin 2451 -338
6 Kasey Kahne 2445 -344
7 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 2428 -361
8 Kevin Harvick 2408 -381
9 Jeff Gordon 2342 -447
10 Greg Biffle 2342 -447
11 Tony Stewart 2331 -458
12 Denny Hamlin 2324 -465
13 Carl Edwards 2196 -593
14 Kurt Busch 2136 -653
15 Casey Mears 2091 -698

Close friends of my family have a 12 year old boy with advanced Hodgkins lymphoma who went to the Victory Junction camp last summer. He was in pretty rough shape just recovering from another regimen of chemo. Even in mid-racing season, as busy as he must have been, Kyle Petty took the time to call the boy every day. The Petty's are special people and they have a lot of life-long fans around here - as well as Smoke and the other drivers who give so selflessly to the camp.

Any of you race fans know how to cut & paste ?
After ex sorta' wiped me out materiel-wise ,I found some of my old photo albums in the organized rubble.I found a shot of Linda Vaughan [Miss Golden shifter] & I at some trade show. Then I found one of a darkly handsome Uncle Alan being presented with a gold-plated competion plus shifter being presented to me after I won it as Hurst's salesman of the year.

Guess an old man can brag a bit when he becomes a has-been when he can show what he 'uster- was .

If someone can please help ,I'll try to get the printer/scanner up & running & send it to you .

Safe racing !

Uncle Alan :)

I heard that Benny Parsons was diagnosed with lung cancer and just started a regimen of chemo and radiation. Get well, big guy.

Guys,
Haven't posted in a while on Uncle Alan's thread because of Jr's disappointing finishes the last two races.
Seems just like yesterday I was watching Blaney run at Sharon Speedway,
about a dozen miles north of me,then he got his BIG TIME ride.
Well. After last week, I'm here to say I've jumped off the "hometown boy
does good" bandwagon.
Can only keep my fingers crossed that Jr gets things going PDQ .

Uncle Alan, wish I could help with computer issues but I'm probably less
computer savvy than you, hope ya' get some help from some of the other
guys.

Wishing Benny all the best !

Doug :)

Hey, what was up with that move by Blaney anyway? Was he trying to bump draft Junior like the commentators were guessing? I wonder if Blaney offered any explanation. I have always liked Blaney and that move seemed totally out of character.
