Three Gibbs cars in the top 11...two are rookies though, including Hamlin
Two Hendrick cars in the top 10
1 each top 10 cars from DEI, Roush and Childress

Practice is more indicative than qualifying of how the race will go on the plate tracks...although the trend recently has been not even running the entire alloted practice time...esp among the more elite plate teams.
Keeping that in mind, neither Jr., Fairy Boy nor Johnson were top 10 in either practice...Smoke was 1st and 7th respectively. What does that tell us?...prolly nothing...

Don't think Jr. is strokin'...not if he's anything like his dad. Good news for him is his teamate, Truex Jr., qualed 8th. Bet they're making some major adjustments for the race...

Swami sez...

1. Smoke
2. Jarrett
3. Johnson
4. Kenseth
5. Hamlin
6. J. Gordon
7. Biffle
8. Sadler
9. Marlin
10. Jr.

It's Daytona baby!!!! Should be awesome

 ...Well...Junior takes the Busch race and now I gotta hope he can carry that thru to the 400 tomorrow night...Fingers are crossed for the man...

The "Buschwackers" reign resumes after a two week hiatus.
Just two Busch Series only regulars in the top 12:
7. M. Wallace
10. Andretti

Ugh!

Everything hinges on the " Bottom line" as in all big business. Can't you rember when the cameras would only show filled bleachers at this series ? You could get a peek now & then of the crowded front stretch & then everything else was bare bones .

The BIG names fill all the seats now .

I feel it is gross injustice to the beginners . NA$CAR doesn't care about fair, just gate reciepts ?

Safe racing !

Hey Alan,

Not going to make it to the race this year...obviously, seeing as I'm still in S.GA and the race starts in 3 hours. I suppose I could make it, but would have to travel at race speed...:D I'll try again in February.

Been bright & hot all day, hotter'n a 2 peckered goat . It is now 17:06 & still clear but it'sa' coming before long.

Be of cheer. At your age there's always next year !

Safe racing.

Look in thr right column & notice the number of people that read this versus replies & comments they post.

If only a small percent would take a moment to share an observation or complaint, imagine how much we'd grow & broaden our knowledge about racing !

We welcome responses & promise not to be too critical .

"Smoke" 'em if you got em'!

Wrecks took out some of the top contenders late, but such is plate racing.

I was a little worried about "dumb and dumber" there at the end before the debris caution...think we would have seen one hella blocking move from #20 to get that checkered flag.

Oh, and how 'bout Boris?! The Said-heads must've been going wild.

Jr. never really had the kind of car we're used to seeing at Daytona, but...guess what...he moves up one spot in the points to third.

Chicago up next...

I was hoping Jr. would pull "double duty" this last weekend, but one out of two ain't bad and smoke taking the 400 aint bad in my book either.

So when is Talledaga? :D

Twelve more before Talladega.
October 8. Should be real interesting by then.
Wanted Jr to win too,but if not him Smoke's  with me.

"Awesome Bill" is running at Chicago! For Mikey though, not Ray. Gonna have to root for ol' #9 on Sunday...no matter what number is actually on his car.

Excellent article on Boris Said in today's Daytona Beach News-Journal. Since I'm too dense [ like the population of N.Y.] I cannot cut & paste . Google up their eaddress & read a bit more of his background & his determination to succeed .

I'm impressed !

Did Pretty boy ask forgiveness ? Was there a face-off after the race? How did Stewart get so far back?

After the nudge I cut the T/V off in disgust like a spoiled brat & missed this stuff.

Safe racing !

Uncle Alan

I had Gordon the last 2 years in the Ultimate Fantasy League. He was good for a steady points but couldn't pull through until the end. This year I took Stewart. He hasn't done as well as I'd hoped and once again I'll probably be second to last. Figures.
