Native 5 - the perfect pocket knife?

Has Sal or anyone else ever given a rationale for deleting the Boye dent? It's such a great feature for closing the blade, I'm surprised to see it gone.

There are quite a few people, who absolutely love it. I am one of them

I don't have any use for it. It actually interferes with the lockbacks. I'm glad it's gone.

I can take it or leave it, the Boye Dent, but, the Native 5 LW is my new favorite EDC folder.

The dent was a safety issue for the lock. Changing the lock well eliminated the issue.

Interesting. Can you expand on the nature of the risk? I'm not sure what "changing the lock well" implies.

And thanks for replying.

The Dent is still on the Delica and Endura. So how about a detailed explanation for the omission.
Is there a time line I'm not seeing?

Native5 has upgraded mid-lock. Delica and Endura do not.

A native 5 LW will be my next Spyderco for sure!! Had a gen 1 original and gave it to a friend who didn't have a knife. But I love everything about the new ones.

Trust me N5 is much better that original Native. 20 years in development worth something. Native was a good knife. Native5 is the great in any flavor, but Ti Fluted and 2013 Forum are cream of the crop (my favorites) :)

I just ordered a lightweight/S35VN, PE Native 5, mostly due to this thread. It will be my first-ever Native.

I prefer the lightweight version of the Native 5. It seems to be very strong and has excellent grip. I don t see the advantage of the increased weight of the g10 version in a small knife.

Extra 1 oz of weight is not a problem for me, at least since I stated to lift weight :)
Frankly, I just love liners.

low riding wire clip on LW

Yes! I think the LW designation should translate to wire clip IMO. I put a couple grooves in one of mine so it would take one:
