Neck knife people, I want to hear from you.

I wore neck knives (and fixed blades) exclusively until I had a baby and found that it was not the most comfortable option with a kid on the chest (for him and me).

In fact, that is what drove me into pocket knives. I only carried fixed until the kid came into play, but they became unwieldy on the neck and waist.

I've found wearing neck knives between two shirts to be the most comfortable and corrosion resistant option for me. All of mine are from Carter Cutlery, either Muteki or Carter himself, so corrosion resistance becomes a key factor.

You’re the troll. You just questioned whether someone hunting goes hunting naked.

Humor and good-natured sarcasm is typically misunderstood by people of lower intelligence.

Now be a good little boy and run along, and stop destroying other people's threads. Your own self-destructive paranoid, delusional threads aren't enough for you? Every thread you create or try to participate in, turns into a train wreck. I guess you haven't noticed that??

Not ”destroying threads”, although it’s ironic YOU would complain about that given you spamming my thread and hurling personal insults at me yesterday.

I responded to your poll. You didn't like my vote and my reasons for it. Then you had a meltdown and got all butt-hurt when your own poll backfired on you. Like the mod said - "Don't try to come across as the victim".

I will not derail this thread further out of respect to the OP.

Don't let this guy destroy other peoples threads. Ignore him for the sake of everyones sanity and so bladeforums can have meaningful conversations. He will literally go back and forth and derail every thread if you engage him. Most people at least have the decency to know they are drifting off topic and shut up after awhile. Not this guy.

Ignore him.

I have an izula 2 and spyderco ark I attempted neck carry. The spyderco ark sheath lets the knife drop out randomly which is a no go. The izula 2 is a tad big. I never warmed up to neck carry I suppose.

I have lost knives clipped to my carhartt overalls while cutting trees down in the woods. Neck carry may have helped that, but I'd rather go for a belt knife while I'm around the property cutting anyway.

I think everyone ought to try all methods of carry and see what they prefer.

Since this discussion started, I started carrying this little beauty (Mora 2/0), which weighs a hair under 2 oz. It's not bad, I can probably get used to it. I also ordered a CS Bird and Game, which is a larger version of the Bird and Trout. Maybe that will be the perfect size and weight.

Thanks to everyone for their posts on this topic, and making Bladeforums the leading edge of knife discussion.

I’ve found I don’t care for wearing a neck knife but I do like a small fixed blade. If I was going to use one as a neck knife it would be the Candiru since it’s the smallest/lightest I own. The Izula is my favorite of the three as far as ergonomics are concerned.

I don't consider this a self-defense knife,
Most people probably would .

Including, especially , me . Probably most cops .

But I think of all my knives as potential weapons , so I might be biased .

It's pretty cool in any case , IMO .:thumbsup:

I´ve used a neck knife on biking expeditions, under my shirt, hanging on a BALL CHAIN, never on a paracord that is stronger than my neck ;) .

I carry one all the time, except for the time in bed sleeping and under the shower.
That said i don't like ball chains, i use a type 1 (325) length adjustable paracord with a build in breaking point, it's around as hard to break then what you see in movies when they pull off a dog tag from a fallen soldier, or so :D
I can make it stronger to break or even weaker and i can re-use the same paracord over and over again. Works best for me.

And somebody said something about the point of having a knife getting all sweaty and shit because i carry it under the shirt, well that's why it's all Ti and 100% rust proof. And weight is about 1 oz.
For me, the point is to have a knife with me all the time as backup or call it what you will. The time it takes to get it out is irrelevant for me as i don't see or use it as self defense tool but as a cutting tool. ;)

I really like small fixed knives, they are very convenient, tried to wear them around my neck in different ways.

Did not work for me:

1. Dangling around when wearing it outside of the shirt.
2. Hard to get to when wearing it between layers.
3. I broke a ball chain while hiking with a backpack that has a sternum strap.

However, I have a BK14 in my right front pocket and as it is so small, it really does not clutter up my pocket that much.

I tried neck carry and didn't like it. Even a super light knife still flopped around and got in the way. I don't see the point of carrying under a shirt. Even as a back up, too cumbersome to get to and/or re-sheath. Folding knife tucked IWB is just way easier if I need something that concealed. I tighten clips down so they don't go anywhere.

Thanks, I like it for sure.

I think that most police see almost anything as a weapon so i go out of my way to avoid interacting with them. Every time it's "why do you have so many knives?" LOL.

This one is pretty small even if it is a dagger, and like others have said it can take a second to dig out from under my shirt. I usually use the OTF if im sitting or just need to open a letter or cut something small quickly. If I needed to poke someone I'd preferably pull this Navajo-3 by Steelclaw Knives out of my back pocket.
