Neck knife people, I want to hear from you.

I have a White river Backpacker that I wear around my neck sometimes. I plan to do the same when the Swick 5 finally makes it here from Spyderco.

I use an Benchmade 160 tether knife while kayaking. Much easier to grab it from around my neck, than to dig in my pocket for a folder.

Here is a video I posted 10 years ago. I guess you can also use a paper clip, or a thicker gauge wire to make a "weak link." There are plenty of plastic breakaway lanyard designs as well if you are concerned about choking.

I was going to subscribe to your channel, but I was already subscribed! I think I learned the knot trick from your video.

Never carried a neck knife but what I have done in the past whilst hiking is to wear my SAK on a lanyard around my neck in the evenings whilst preparing food etc. Keeps it easily accessible and prevents it falling out of ones pocket when sitting on the ground/ moving around in the dark.

I just realized that I carry a neck knife every day, sometimes I even sleep with it. Don't notice it anymore. It's really nice to have at least one knife when needed.
My current favorite. This one has been sticking around for long now, although I have many others :

That A.G. Russell is making me feel emotional. Back about 10 years ago they were closing out the A.G. Russell Folding Sting. It was a titanium framelock in the same sort of dagger shape as your fixed blade. It was on closeout for months for $79 and I kept waiting to buy it and never did.

That Folding Sting still haunts my dreams to this day...

I used to carry a Spyderco Walker (1.6oz) in the bush on a length of paracord around my neck. I'd never carry it outside of my shirt, what with not having a thing for auto-asphyxiation or wanting to take a chance on accidentally hanging myself. It's either tucked under the shirt, with no cord showing or off the neck and in my hand. It's the kind of thing you have to be mindful of checking once in a while to ensure the cord doesn't pop on you during the day. Inside of my shirt ensured that it wasn't ripped off my kit going through heavy brush. The weight of it never bothered me. I wouldn't carry a Benchmade Adamas that way, but with a Spyderco Native 5 or Chaparral it would work well.

From a pocketknife guy, who also carries a fixed blade sometimes.
The tops bartender in my favorite neck knife bar none.
My 2nd favorite option is a quality custom sheath for your favorite folder.

I tried few times but they irritate the heck out of me against the skin. The knife would need to be extremely light and rounded for me. I guess it's not worth the trouble for me. Pocket carry is much easier.

That qualifies as a neck knife in my opinion!

I usually have a fixed blade on one neck lanyard, and my SAK, keys, and a light on another.

That's not a bad idea. I might try mess around with trying a few different carries around my neck. Maybe a SAK, maybe a small flashlight... Something like that.

It's really convenient and not a big deal for comfort after you get used to it. Other than the keys, I probably use the light most often. Now that there are keychain lights that make 500+ lumens (e.g. the Nitcore TIP SE, whichis 700 lumen), they're really useful. Combined with a good SAK and you have quickly accessible gear that can help you address a lot of tasks.

Dang, I just checked that little light out, that's pretty cool. It's amazing how far flashlight technology has changed lately.

Hey man. I just checked and I didn't see anything show up. Maybe they already sold? Are you talking the spear point dagger blade with titanium framelock? I'd love to get me one of those. I'm going to have to keep an eye on the bay.
Edit: I see one sold on the 2nd. Thanks for looking out by the way!
