Should I bother bringing any then? After all, you're in the right place!

I will have playing in the shop Ed Caffrey's new video on Mosaic Damascus. If anyone wants to watch it.

Anyone coming to the HI and is interested in buying a forge email and I'll tell you the price and will build to the length that you want.:D

Yep!!! Email me your name so I can put it on the roster. Go to the NECKA site for directions and you need to bring safety glasses and if you plan on forging bring steel.

Hey guys,
I'll be bringing a bunch of the 1084. So if any of the new guys need a bar for forging I'll have some for sale. Also if anyone else wants to place an order email me at macevitale@yahoo.com and I'll make sure I bring that too...Saves ya on the shipping.

Hey Higgy,
I would like to get one of your tappers... Can you bring one down for me?
Mace

I was planning on bringing some 1095... I have it in 60" sections-- 1/8"x1" , 1/8"x2", 1/4"x2", and 1/4"x2.5". I order it HRP&O annealed, so its pretty clean stuff.
I've never forged in my life, so what would be the size of choice, and does anyone want or need any of it?

I may want some of that 1/8"X2 and 1/4"x2 1095.....bring it and we can figure something out!

Oh....I ordered a Paragon KM14 Knifemakers kiln. Its only about 100 pounds and runs on 120V....does anyone have any interest in playing around with it at the HI? I could bring it along if anyone was interested in checking it out.

Mr. Purple,
I would be interested in some of the 1/4" x 2" and the 1/4" x 2.5"
Can you do a bar each? I would be interested in more if you have it.
Maybe we can do a little swaping.
Mace

EEKS!

...really didn't think there'd be this much interest in this stuff, but let me figure out the quantities that I've got of each, and I'll post it here later tonight. I don't have a huge amount of any of it, but as I said, I'll figure it out... can always order more, right?

Alright, so here's the breakdown... and I swear I'm not making this up. Admiral Steel (which is where I get my stuff), charges an ASSLOAD for pickled and oiled annealed bar stock. Apparently it needs to be sheared from plate on a per-order basis, and then P&O annealed. If I'm not mistaken, they charged me an extra $15-20 per 60" bar!
I get it this way because it seems much easier to work on the grinder, and there's almost no trace of scale, so I'm not spending so much time getting it off and making sure the stuff is flat after I manage to GET the scale off. WAAAAYYY more expensive this way, but it does save on belts and struggling to get it flat afterwards.
I paid as follows:

1/8"x1" $4.50/ft
1/8"x2" $5.85/ft
1/4"x2" $8.50/ft
1/4"x2.5" $9.70/ft

No shit, this doesn't even cover shipping, but after using their regular hot-rolled stuff, the P&O annealed stuff is far more consistent and easier to work with. If this is way too expensive for you guys, I understand (especially you forgers!), but I plan to bring a 60" section of each piece anyway...

IG, I'm sure you have something to cut this stuff down with... would you mind if I bring it and possibly have you cut it as we need it?
