Need Jack Crain Info FAST!!

I guess I was just lucky and at the right place dealing with Mr Crain. At a knife show in September 1989 in Santa Clara he had a LSS2 for sale for $425.00, plus a few other knives. I bought the LSS2 and carried it for several years on cross country ski trips. I used it for yeoman tasks and to chip ice from lakes to boil for drinking water. The edge holding was just OK, the design-typically 1980's style. Still it worked for me.

On October 17, 1989 the Loma Prieta earthquake hit Santa Cruz, When I made home from the stables I grabbed three things, a flashlight, my fanny pack first aid kit and the LSS2. I used the knife for various utility tasks and kept it in my back pack while working in the command post for 2 weeks. The one thing that I will always remember was that Jack Crain was one of two people to write me after the earthquake and wish me well.

I guess people change. Too bad.

I just came across this post and also hope that the original poster is still with us.

I hope it isn't too much of a drift, but saw where two posters talked about the Texas Att Gen office.
But neither poster shows their location as being in Texas.

Am I missing something or maybe they moved away at some point??.

Either way, a valid point in using resources for recovering property. I notified a seller once that, that was my next step in recovering some funds and the funds came in within a couple of days.

Crain Survival Knives are some of the best in market in my opinion. I love them since i get my first Crain. But with Mr. Crain himself i was not very happy because he dont sent me what i paid for. After i contacted the Postal Inspectors he sent me my Knife and additional to this he sent me a additional Knife. Very nice, but now i prefer to spend more money and buy them in the aftermarket. My stuff: www.survivalknives.ch

i bought a knife off crain before he became "famous", had no problems dealing with him at that time; but to be fair that was about 15 years ago....seems when someone gets too big of an ego, all their respect for others go down the drain.........

Paid for a LS-1 survival knife in full ($795.00) in november of 2007 and still do not have it and cannot contact Jack. Did not know about this forum prior to sending payment. HE DOES NOT DELIVER! I will be taking the advise of others and be contacting the TX atty. Generals office.

there is nothing worse then being a hardworking, honest guy, that saves his hard - earned money to buy one of his dream knives.
putting his trust and hopes into a dealer, knifemaker, etc
and sending his money, just to realize being abused and scamed....that hurts. been there - done that.
i can just encourage you, the swiss authoroties are not happy with a merchant like Crain, they should be informed
- and steps taken. even from the other side of the world.

Glad someone brings these BTT so newbies like me get the info..rather than learning the hard way. Thanks brothers.

if possible i agree with the doorstep procedure. go by car, pay cash for gas & expenses & take your strongest tight mouthed buddy.--dennis

Did anyone ever find out where this scumbag is? I have "Contractor" friends spread out all over the U.S., who I have served with in several different areas of conflict, who would be more than happy to visit a P.O.S. like this...

Just to check on his well being ya unnerstand...

;)

These types of comments even in jest are some of most ignorant things people can think, write down, on a publicly available forum, viewable from any corner of the globe, by just about anyone. I'm sure your "contractor" buddies have much more important things to do and wouldn't like to end up in jail for something as frivolous as a knife, they might care about their own well being as an example. Do you understand? Let's not throw out all smarts out the window.
