Recommendation? Need Knife for 18 year old Kool Girl....

I would suggest a dragonfly in h1.^^ Or a kershaw Pilar or shuffle. Shuffle is super reasonably priced too.

I did not know turning 18 is "getting tattoos" age these days? I am from "the first tattoo gets you in trouble no matter how old you are" generation.
As for the knife, maybe a small Vic Classic with a girly pattern like the below one, that includes a little nail file, scissors, a pincer and a toothpick. It is not a real multitool, nor a full size knife, but it is quite useful. And she can hang it on her keyring.
at 18 no need for parents permission. she does keep the Fox 40 rescue whistle I gave her on her keyring and your idea is a good one. she always has her keys. thx

Does she want a knife?
She does.. Always likes mine..

For what its worth, she should check her employer's policy regarding knives at work
Good point. She does not like getting in trouble.

How about a 0450? There's no need for it to be "girly".
When I thought of a cool knife that ZT was my first idea...I've seen some that are very cool..

Balisong-for some reason the movie Face Off comes to mind
Another sweet idea. She already has kind of a store stalker that management is not addressing as I see fit. I continue to talk to her about it.. Maybe I'll start another thread about that. Plenty of parents and LEO here..

Find out if she likes “blurple” or British racing green. A pm2, para3,manix2 lw in s110v or a delica/dragonfly or a ladybug/manbug in zdp-189. If she likes stainless,or another color, a delica’s are available in those as well. Digicam? Pm2. Black?Pm2.

Sounds more like a pepper spray problem than a knife one.

If autos are good to go in your locale, Id look at the Kershaw Launch 4. Nice and tiny, lots of color options. My wife likes hers for general cutting tasks.

As others have mentioned, the Benchmade Mini Grip is a really good little knife and is available with different blade styles and a bunch of different color scales. Plus, you can get it custom made for you onBenchmade’s site.

The Bugout is also a good option — really slim in the pocket and very lightweight

I'd probably look at knives with Thumb Studs and either Axis or Backlocks. They are pretty intuitive and should work well with long manicured nails.

Perhaps something from the BM Custom Shop make it a bit more unique for her so it shows you didn't "just" buy something off the shelf.

Women's pants are defective straight out of the factory. Pockets are almost always inadequate. The Delica is a good option, as is the Bugout. Dragonfly is smaller for the pocket, but I think only the smallest of hands will find a full grip on it.

A little but more than budget but the benchmade 940 would be a good choice. It has the purple backspacer and green aluminum handles. And there are plenty of after market parts. Easy to open with the axis lock.
I just got one in and it's amazing and a happy comfy pocketable alternative to a sebenza even.

Of all the knives I own, the only one my wife showed any interest in was my Gerber LST Ultralight. I tried to find one for her and struck out. Ended up with a Buck 425. It's been in her pocket or purse for over 20 years now. Both knives are still available, might indicate good designs?

For something more modern, and a little larger/heavier, the Delica or Leek are good selections. Though as I type this, I think a liner lock may be harder on her nails than a lockback or axis.

Hey all,

I'm thinking it's time for Stephanie to have good a knife. She's my daughter in law.
She is working temporarily at a big box store. She has started getting her tattoos now that she is old enough. She is a small girl who wears her finger nails long.
I thought of a multi-tool at first, but now am thinking maybe a cool single blade folder is better. Maybe a flipper or spyderco?
I'd like it to have a good strong lock, not that she's likely to spine whack it , but for safety.
A smaller blade (remember, she has small pockets & tight pants) w/ a clip, cool colors? easy open,no nail biters..usa prefered but I suppose w/ todays quality not necessary.
..........$50-$150 budget ...

thanks alot....:D.......

Its not a super cool colour but the new FRN Chapparel is a very nice knife. Other than that the Delica and Dragon fly come in a wide range of colours.

If Chapparel I would strongly advocate Raffir Noble. Much cooler than FRN
