I will be giving it to a person who is not a knife collector and could possibly use it for EDC or other uses

So this is a gift for someone who is not into knives? Personally, sounds like a waste of money to buy them something that expensive when they won’t appreciate the value behind it like an actuall collector would. But…

If you really insist, I’d say get them a Sebenza with a nice inlay of your/their choice, probably a Damascus blade too. It’s a solid company that backs their products, and if they person does intend on using it, they have one hell of a warranty that will cover the knife for life. The Sebenza is also incredibly easy to disassemble and maintain, if that’s ever needed as well.

I'd second the Arno Bernard iMamba or Orca recommendation. I believe there's a lot more hand finishing and detail on these than most others, and they're pretty undervalued at the moment. The Arius is great but it's hyped up a lot, you could get one of these in mammoth molar for around the same price:

You could also look at the special edition CKF's, the regular ones even tend to be really well executed.
Yep, the mammoth molar is on my short list. I just have a super low number run Farid FMP that is being made as we speak that has paused my buying temporarily.

My thoughts exactly. A non knife enthusiast most likely won’t “get it”. If the cost is intended to impress the recipient, there are plenty of knives for $200 or less that would do that with the greatest of ease. Most non knife enthusiasts would be shocked that anybody would spend $200 on a knife.

I would search for a serial number or born on date, or something of that nature, that correlates to a significant date in said person's life.... birthday, child's birthday, and anniversary date, etc... somebody not into knives like us, won't truly ever appreciate the knife simply based on cost alone, but nearly everyone appreciates significant dates in their lives.

I have two CRKs and an Arius that I won't part with for that reason. A unique 21 that was born on my daughter's 1st birthday and the Arius was born on her 6th. The PDW CRK Inkosi was born on my mom's birthday the year she passed. The daughters knives will go to her, I'll likely take my mom's to the grave, time will tell.

Did anyone mention LG :)? Or a Shiro Qauntum Ursus. Either one, you get out a few hundred under budget and even a non knifer will feel and see the qaulity.

Can anyone imagine a “non-knife” persons first real knife is a Shiro. 😳😳😳😳😳 Thats like giving a Rolex to a non watch guy or better yet an AP to a non watch guy.

Sorry, I should have clarified. This isn't just a gift for someones birthday. Its for family. Something personal, emotional, and the person receiving it will definitely treat it as something special.
As far as CRK, I already got an Umnumzaan so I kinda want something a bit different so everyone gets something unique. Dang, sorry, I probably should have mentioned I will be buying more than just one knife. I'll go edit the original post now

😂😂 goes to cut up a bunch of cardboard.."ooh, this thing nice" proceeds to dig in the ground trying to pry weeds out of the ground...🫣 me....."nooooooooooooooooooooo"
But real talk (I just edited the post for clarity) it's definitely not anything like that, trust me, theyll %100 understand and appreciate it, for sure!

Since it sounds like you're not trying to hunt anything down (insta drops, website drops, fighting bots, etc) and would like something special and unique....imo I'd look no further than Rockstead. Easy enough to get, excellent quality and the blade is unlike anything else....

Beautiful knives! How do you go about buying it? Didn't see a way on their site
EDIT, see it now, was on the wrong site. Thank you

Search around on Google. They were harder to get a few years back. Dealer network stateside has greatly improved. You should have no problem finding a few dealers in the states with several models in stock.

PS: there is no wrong model, but the Shin and Higo II get brought up quite a bit for a great full size EDC.
