I have big hands. My goto for big/overbuilt is Hinderer, where the XM24 is the biggest. Around $5-600 + $200 for a Ti scale.

Plus I really like Hinderer Wharncliffes - uniquely useful.

(the left one above is now my daughter's - too small for me)

And there is the new Wharnie Fulltrack, probably the easiest to find right now:

Love it! Looks great. Has more of a utilitarian look to em than most "polished" knives.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Yep, even a VG-10 Delica would be mind blowing to a non-knife person.

List of knives I gifted to non-knife people through the years:
Some small Victorinox
Hultafors GK
Mora basic stainless
Mora robust
Glock FM78
VG10 Delica
AUS8 Medium Voyager (old school model)
SK-5 SRK-C
Micro Recon1

Neither of those cost me over 100€ and yet every single one of those people are very happy with their knives. And they are all in in use.

I appreciate OP's wish to gift the very best, but there is a chance that the person receiving such gift wouldn't be able to fully appreciate it.

Most of us here would be stoked by such gift, yet I know plenty of people who would be like "You could have gotten me a new phone" or something upon discovering the price. Even some knife guys would tell you that's too much for a knife.

So my suggestion is to think twice, and if possible - check if that is a good option. You can always just get a cheaper knife and spend the rest on something else you'll gift them.
Said non knife "collectors" not "non knife people", trust me, they know knives, and will fully appreciate every single one

I mean, your reply to my original comment was “you may be right”. No bro, I was right the first time. You bought some budget Rocksteads and didn’t even know what a zero grind is LOL.

Now you want to flex about membership status which really just proves that you’re broke.
Can you just drop it please? Your "tone" did seem to imply you're just here to troll. I hope I'm wrong. But you are kind of crashing this thread which has been very helpful with alot of nice people taking their time to assist me in something that is very personal and special to me.

Just let it go, please

Thank you!

You're more than welcome to join in on the suggestions.
Let me know what you're thinking. Any ideas or knives that haven't been mentioned so far?
Would love to see more.

There have been a lot of things suggested, but I think one question is still what you need? I don’t think we know how many people you’re buying for?

You said “for family” so is this piece getting put in a glass display case for your entire family to look at? Is each family member supposed to get their own knife?

It is for family. There's a much deeper meaning to it than just the knife, but, the knife will be thing that carries that meaning. It's for people that know guns and knives very well, but aren't exactly "collectors". Will it sit in a glass shelf? Maybe? Probably, but at the same time, something that has meaning to a person and they decide to use the knife, as a knife, isn't exactly wrong either and I'm not going to tell anyone not to.
That's why I wanted something at least somewhat special and not just a civivi or a crkt m16.

Every member of my family is obviously different and I'm trying to find a piece for each person that, at least in my eyes, would match their personality.

I obviously cant buy 14 of the same knives and call it a day because that would take away from the special and personal aspect of it.

I already bought knives for most of my family but had 4 more to buy when I came to this forum to ask for suggestions.

I bought 2 from the suggestions here and have several that would be a good fit but hoping something else will come up that will be the "nail on the head" moment.

(See the original post) Preferences and "requirements" were pretty broad because I dont have anything super set for each person.

If it's me I would look at something custom. If you have a look at Arizona Custom Knives, Nordic Knives and Blade Gallery you will find some properly good stuff in your cash envelope.

Particularly Check out........ https://www.bladegallery.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=1562&cat=A2+(collaboration+by+Andre+Thorburn+and+Andre+Van+Heerden)

These are some of the best custom flippers on the planet.

Good luck with your search. :)
The A6 Premium Flipper with Damascus and Hyperdrive Timascus is an absolute beauty! $3,200 tho o_O

It cant be too custom because of what I have planned to do with the knives. It'll end up taking away from the meaning since you wouldn't really be able to tell whats your work done to the knife and what's the original creators work. Sorry, dont mean to be vague, just dont want to expell something very personal on the internet for everyone to know.
I think I did write nothing too custom in the original post.

But please dont let that stop you from suggesting more stuff. You guys helped me tremendously

OP - as already suggested, consider a fully-dressed Hinderer XM-24 (i.e., with titanium hardware and scale), which will be in the $800-$1000 range. Picture of mine below for reference (I have not put ti hardware on it).

Yup, its definitely on the list. Thanks

Ahh ok, got it. Yeah the A2 stuff is fabulous and has the fit, finish and action to match.

I think if you are looking at the mid tech stuff then all the good suggestions have already been made.

Personally I would avoid the out the front automatics as they can be a problem in some areas and they also can have reliability issues in the long term. I would also choose a Stainless blade like Magnacut or something similar as these will definitely be easier to keep pristine in the long run.

I am sure we would all love to see what you choose and how they come out. Best of luck!:)

Anything in particular? Brand? Model? Specs?
A folding smatchet if it’s a formal occasion. For an outdoor event, Boker has some nice offerings. Keeping things inside, I might suggest a CRK for the guests.
