All mirror DLC, extremely hard to capture how stunning these are in person. It’s a liquid black ink mirror polished blade sharpened to a zero edge, no bevel. My favorite that I carry is the Tanto Chi with the Stingray inlay.

Hate to break it to you, but those are not zero ground edges. All of them have bevels. Rockstead has two different grinds, and those are not the zero ground version.

Oh, interesting. You may be right on some of them. However, the Higo II and Hizen comes down to a zero edge from where the bevel starts. Either way, not really the point of the post but thanks for your 2 cents without any helpful information

It’s helpful to know when you’re incorrect 😉

Yup just bought the purple plauqe doctor with DLC blade. I was more thinking something big BIG. Maybe a hatchet or an axe?? He lives in MO and has his own farm so it'll def be a user. Any suggestions appreciated

Only one thing comes to mind for that... BUSSE!

Buy a Cold Steel Espada XL with polished handle. It dwarfs any of the folders that have been suggested by far. Actually even the Large version is bigger than any of them.

You’re incorrect, do more research next time before correcting someone.. Also, it would have been helpful if you offered the models that you are stating that have zero edges. You had 2 opportunities to “help” and you didn’t which leaves me to conclude that you are a troll or just a an bs instigator.

Midgards Messer makes some monstrosities of a folder. Real cool designs that put a larger blade than the handle. Also, as far as a hatchet/tomahawk goes, Winkler seems to be popular amongst some of the special operations dudes. They're not as flashy, but they're built tough as hell.

Those are all budget models anyways.

Any suggestions on some big/overbuilt knives? For a big dude with Excavator hands?

I have big hands. My goto for big/overbuilt is Hinderer, where the XM24 is the biggest. Around $5-600 + $200 for a Ti scale.

Plus I really like Hinderer Wharncliffes - uniquely useful.

(the left one above is now my daughter's - too small for me)

And there is the new Wharnie Fulltrack, probably the easiest to find right now:

I already conceded that two of the models were not zero edge. However, the Higo II and the Hizen are zero edges. Your initial comment is that none of the models had zero edges. Which makes you 100% incorrect in your initial statement. I win, you lose and you’re just a troll and that’s being kind. Done with you.

Or, don’t be such a cheap troll, buy a basic membership if you can afford it, and let’s have a disagreement privately!

My thoughts exactly. A non knife enthusiast most likely won’t “get it”. If the cost is intended to impress the recipient, there are plenty of knives for $200 or less that would do that with the greatest of ease. Most non knife enthusiasts would be shocked that anybody would spend $200 on a knife.
Yep, even a VG-10 Delica would be mind blowing to a non-knife person.

List of knives I gifted to non-knife people through the years:
Some small Victorinox
Hultafors GK
Mora basic stainless
Mora robust
Glock FM78
VG10 Delica
AUS8 Medium Voyager (old school model)
SK-5 SRK-C
Micro Recon1

Neither of those cost me over 100€ and yet every single one of those people are very happy with their knives. And they are all in in use.

I appreciate OP's wish to gift the very best, but there is a chance that the person receiving such gift wouldn't be able to fully appreciate it.

Most of us here would be stoked by such gift, yet I know plenty of people who would be like "You could have gotten me a new phone" or something upon discovering the price. Even some knife guys would tell you that's too much for a knife.

So my suggestion is to think twice, and if possible - check if that is a good option. You can always just get a cheaper knife and spend the rest on something else you'll gift them.

YUUUUP! That's right on the money! My #1 pick for him so far. Thank you!

Definitely! Midgard Messer has a special place in my heart 😂 but they are very niche, they aren't exactly intended to be used as a knife, more of overbuilt toys for collectors. Most of my brothers won't be using the knives, but for this one, I want something big he can carry, be a statement piece and if sometimes necessary have and use it as a knife
Winkler looks legit, I'll save this one for his Bday, that way he won't feel bad using it.
Thanks again. Feel free to drop more suggestions

I mean, your reply to my original comment was “you may be right”. No bro, I was right the first time. You bought some budget Rocksteads and didn’t even know what a zero grind is LOL.

Now you want to flex about membership status which really just proves that you’re broke.
