Need to lose some weight....who's with me?

I like sweet's...there I admitted it. If I start snacking(cookies, candies, chips) I keep snacking all day. I am capable of stopping but I usually need some incentive to do that.
Right now I'm around 195-200 lbs, I would prefer to be down to 170-175.

So I'm just spitballing here but if anyone wants to join me in losing some weight post here and if we get enough people to join in maybe we can get a Busse Weightloss group going. ;)

Here is what I propose but I'm open to suggestions.
1) Set a goal (I don't care what it is but it needs to be realistic)
2) Timeframe (I'm thinking the weekend prior to Blade show would be the cutoff)
3)If you meet your goal weight you'd be entered in a drawing for something that I haven't figured out yet.
3b) I was considering if we have enough people everyone throw in $5-$10 and if you meet your goal you are entered in the drawing for the cash, however I don't know if this would be allowed per BF rules.
4) Your weight, goal and if you achieve it is on the honor system. If you want to post your weight you can but if you choose not to that is fine also.

Thoughts? Anyone want to join me or am I in this on my own?

Many people say they want to lose weight and never get off their ass and do anything about it, so I am glad you are figuring out a plan. Nutrition is the largest part, but you will also need to incorporate exercise as well (duh). I used to eat all the time especially when I was bored (ok I still do but what I eat has changed and I burn a crap ton of calories a day anyways, but still what I snack on is what matters).

I've been upwards of 213 lbs, and then last year was down to about 165 so I tend to do a little yo-yo on my weight. I think it is especially bad for me right now as I'm cooped up a bit more because of the weather and tend to just start snacking. Other than the snacks I do eat fairly well and generally avoid soda or any sweetened drinks. As I said more than anything I just usually need some incentive and a little competition never hurt anyone ;)

I'm in!!!!

When I had knee surgery last February I knew I was going to be sedentary. So I really started taking care with What I ate. Went from 267 down to ultimately 229. But since I've started gaining and am hovering 252(ish). I want to reach 225 but don't think that would happen before blade.....
 
The constant cold & festive seasons have me a bit huskier then ever :o Once I sober up Ill come back and read the rules, may be in. $/smack talk motivates the aries nature :D

Ok, from what I can see that's 17 weeks. I'm in. I'll be glad to throw in $10 at the least. These types of challenges help me stay motivated at work, and hopefully they'll help me here. I'll stay tuned for details.

Edit: Let's try to get this started, with starting weights, by 2/17. % weight lost is what I'm assuming will determine the winner.
 
Sounds like a good idea to me, I'm in. Actually I've already been on my own plan to lose weight since last July. It actually started with a bet that I made my wife. I bet her that I could lose 30 lbs by September, and if I did she had to give the go ahead on ASHBM CG. Much to her surprise I lost nearly 40 by the deadline, and I'm up to 60 lbs lost right now. I hadn't been watching my diet, and was not getting enough exercise. I let myself get up to 298 lbs, and right now I'm right around 238. I would like to get down to the 190's and I'll think that is where I will settle. I feel great now, the exercise and dietary changes I've followed though on made it easy to do. Once you get past the initial 2 weeks it gets easier. What worked for me was setting weekly goals, like try to lose about 2.5 to 3.5 a week. Lots of fruit/vegetables, especially kale. I drink most of my fruit and veggies like a smoothie. I cut out nearly all sugar, other that the sugar in the fruit. Stopped eating out entirely, an occasional steak here and there. No more fast food/carryout. Lots of salad, with low fat dressing. More chicken and fish, a lot less red meat. Counting calories helps a lot, I consume between 1300-1600 calories on average. Some days I will zig zag that number to keep my metabolism guessing. I still indulge in some pork, what can I say, I'm a HOG.

I wouldn't let you do something like this on your own, Eric! I too like sweets, ice cream is my biggest Achilles heel. :( I like the Bladeshow cut-off. I'm willing to join you guys, permitting there is room for a girl on your team... No money for me, just being able to lose that holiday jiggle and get fit for the challenges I have in store for this year. If I make my goal, I will gladly tell everyone what I lost but I'm not sure there is a girl out there who really wants the world to know what she weighs.

I'm all in.
I've been on the second hole on my belt ever since fall, I like to keep it on the first hole. What that translates to is I'm around 240lbs right now and should be about 200, and I usually sit at 220 (I don't actually have a scale, but my belt tells the tale well enough). Half the problem is living with family who are always cooking wings and stuff (the other half is me sitting here typing instead of doing something outside).

Ideally I would have to punch a new hole in my belt to keep my pants up. Here goes nothing!
 
I'm in. I started a week ago at 216lbs and have been doing decent this week. I'm looking to step it up though and get serious. My clothes are to tight! I had to buy new jeans because my olds ones were busting at the seams. Is like to get back around 190.
