Need weapon for office environment

two words.......neck knife

I carry a Bitteroot and it comes in real handy whenever I get attacked at work.(By the way,

"I can get fired for getting caught bringing a "weapon" to work according to the handbook."

I think that applies to all of us who are not cops or soldiers.
If a small neck knife is really going to show then I have one suggestion. Sew or have someone else sew a pocket to the inside of your waistband in an appropriate place. That way you can have a small knife in a dedicated pocket readily available and invisible

There are so many knife options that i can't even suggest one. Any knife of reasonable quality kept in your pocket should be fine, and no one should ever have to see it.

Small aluminum flashlights such as Surefires or Mini Maglights used as Kubotans/fistloads. If anyone asks why you feel the need to carry a flashlight in the middle of the day, tell them that you sometimes drop office supplies behind things or sometimes work late and use it to find the right keys at night for your car/front door etc.

A quality leather belt with a buckle that has a fair bit of weight to it and some practice, steel toed boots that resemble dress shoes, and other such clothing.

No one can hassle you at work for wearing shoes and a belt. Just make sure the buckle isn't cartoonishly huge.

Darn good advice Sir. A Surefire Executive Defender E2D would fit the bill nicely. A little pricey but definitely a high quality piece of work. I've had one since they were first released and I've never had any problems with it. For anyone interested, you can check it out at www.surefire.com

The steel toe idea is pretty good too. Nice and subtle but effective.

If work forbids 'weapons', then STOP trying to figure out which weapon to carry and start planning on which TOOL fulfils your work needs.
There have been stories in our newspapers recently of women picking up their children and using them as weapons. Does work have a ban on staff bringing a child to work?
If OTOH they are forbidding knives, then a non-knife is called for, or you could point out that the kitchen has more knives than you will ever carry.
I carry fancy knives at work and show them around 'cause I'm proud of them.
I have had some staff query my knives occasionally, until I point out that every doctor in the building has scalpels galore on hand, as well as enough lethal drugs and all the injecting equipment needed to kill us all!

ps-if they are knife or weapons PHOBIC, do not expect any rationality at all.--good luck.

Couple of good options - the Microtech Marifone Credit Card Titanium Blade. Fits in your wallet and sharp as hell if you need it. Has two finger holes.

or my personal small carry

Microtech Troodon double edge, partially serrated blade. enough said!

I should bring my "Pen" home and photo my "Office Defense" edc with everything I carry to work now that I have several options that I sometimes carry two at once. Gotta remember next week.

Oh, one more thing...
I figured out Damascus blades are so pretty you can get away with a bigger one with a thumb opener very easily.

Full of ....
1) Carrying a knife at work is not going to solve the number of problems you have.
2) Get over the "used to" feeling of carry a large tactical knife. Someone is goin to take it away from YOU, and use it on you.
3) Watch out for carrying a weapon at work, as it is against company policy. Get caught, and your GONE.
4) Perhaps a change of employment.

1) It's not as though he's having problems with another employee who has exhibited violent tendencies. He wants suggestions in case something happens one day. It's the same reason why folks drive with a spare tire in the trunk. You know, just in case....

2) Thanks for showing us you know nothing about using a knife for self-defense. Only such a person would repeat that sort of ignorant myth! Have you ever tried to take a knife away from someone? If your hands or arms don't have knife scars all over them, it's safe to say the answer is "no."

Even self-defense Instructors would get cut up if they tried to disarm somebody of a knife. Stop repeating that stupid myth! :thumbdn:

3) Several users have told him to carry a knife that can easily pass for a tool. One idea is to carry a Leatherman model that lets you open the blade from the outside. Leatherman has a model like that. It also comes with a carry-clip. Another idea is a short fixed-blade that looks like a traditional letter-opener. It can be kept on his desk, or in a drawer when he steps away from his desk.

4) You shouldn't have to choose between making a Living, and being safe.

I've disarmed people threatening me with a knife on 2 separate occasions and I don't have a single scar. Don't be silly.

Let me guess, they were a couple of dumb-asses who flashed their knives in an attempt to scare you. The fact that you even saw the knife means that you were dealing with 2 idiots.

My other post assumed that the attackers were not complete morons. Sorry for not clarifying that.

I'm being realistic. A real Knifer isn't going to let you see his weapon. The fact that you saw the knives and knew that you were disarming them of their knives, proves my point that you were dealing with idiots trying to scare you. Rather than determined attackers trying to murder you.

JGarth is an self-important, arrogant prick who thinks way too highly of his own opinion (and himself, based on his profile) and made it onto my ignore list almost immediately. Some people think the world should shudder when they speak and can't stand to be ignored. So you should ignore him too.

Full of .. ,

Now .. now ...such vulgarity, but I did consider the source, and gave it it's due consideration.
Maybe this does show a need for a paranoid and insecure person to carry some sort of weapon in an office environment where they are NOT allowed ..... perhaps, mouth wash for openers.
Step two, get down to HR Dept., and get some professional help fast. We see these types every so often on prime time TV news telecasts.
Most "sane" people in an office environment as you refer to, really don't want an unstable, insecure, and dis-organized person pulling out a weapon the first time a tiny secretary says "BOO" to them.
Hey, have at it, but I hope that secretary doesn't take that "weapon" from you and give you the good whoopin' you need, and really embarrass you in front of your co-workers. From your own self physical description, it could happen. And wow, wouldn't your family be crawling in a hole after that got around. Don't ever think it can't happen.
You are just looking for 5 posts in row to condone this weapon paranoia you have.
Anyway, I forgive you for the vulgarity and name calling. It's indicative of your type, and I realize you can't really help it.
Best bet, get some help. Then, you won't need this "weapon"
Have a nice day ... and for your own good, family, and your co-workers, get some help. Let us know how it goes with the HR Dept.

I was a boy scout... I was told to always be prepared... It's better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it...

I don't mind who sees my pocket clip and consider a knife a tool more than a weapon...

But to answer the original question: 2 Words - Belt Knife. Here is a link. I wear mine every day and have for many years... plus it even opens beer bottles!

It is quite simple. There are the knives that nobody sees and doesn't need to be seen unless the situation requires it, and there are many ways to carry these. Then there are the knives that are seen and used openly- those knives are the ones that need to be politically correct for your workplace.
