Need your help:

I’m involved in a court case. I’m sorry, I cannot give detailed information. I would like to know:

1. What size (blade length) knife do you normally carry?

2. What do you use your knife for?

3. At what age did you begin carrying a knife?

Thanx much for your help.

sal

1. A small Swiss army knife, Leatherman multi-tool (Wave) and a 3-4 inch folder (I have many folders so it depends on the day, my clothes, etc).

2. ening mail, open packages (those new ones in plastice can be tough), cutting boxes, rope (I am a sailer), food (mostly fruit), yard work, scraping things, self defense (I have been robbed at knife point once and mugged by two big hulks another time). I also have a bad knee so can't run away. Unexpected events such as attacking dog(s) (me or someone else) or someone hurting someone else such as a woman or child, cutting a seatbelt, cutting clothing, survival situation (lost in woods or whatever) There are almost an infinite number or reasons to carry a knife and many of these reasons could prevent injury or even save a life. It has been man's most useful tool since the dawn of time.

3. I got my first knife when in Cub Sounts. I have carried one on a daily basis since my early 20's....about 35 years now.

I don't know what I would do without a knife in my pocket. It would seem so unatural I wouln't feel prepared for facing the coming day.

1. What size (blade length) knife do you normally carry?
I carry a 3" liner lock folder, and Victorinox Swiss Card. I usually either carry a Victorinox Spartan or my Buck 373 as well.

2. What do you use your knife for?
Opening mail, package, boxes, and general utility purposes. I also use it for hunting, fishing, hiking and similar outdoor activities.
3. At what age did you begin carrying a knife?
I started carrying around 12 periodically with a "small" SAK. I got a lock back when I was fifteen and periodically carried that. Whaen I was 17, I started carrying everyday, whenever I legally could.
Thanx much for your help.

My response is in the blue text under your questions.

Hey Mods,

Is there any way that resurrection of these moldy old threads can be regulated? Perhaps a one year limit, or a big red field around the dates?

Thanks

1. I carry several knives on a daily basis from 3" to 6+". I prefer to carry fixed blade knives.

2 Why? Self defense if needed and the motly of loose running Chow Chows (a pair), and pit bulls of which there are several in the neighborhood.

3. Usually cut anything from string and carboard boxes to butchering my wild roving bamboo and my wife's ivy.

4. I was a child on a San Jose prune and apricot(sp?) ranch so as far back as I can remember we all carried a knife to "cut cots" to make some spending money.

Back when I was a kid almost every boy had a "jack knife" that we took to school with us and played mumblypeg on class breaks. Funny, non of the teachers gave a grain of thought and we were never expelled for haveing a knife.

Don't know if I answered all your questions or not but it my $.02 worth.

Ciao and good luck Sal
Ron
