Negative experience with benchmade warranty and customer service.

You mean to have my knife repaired or replaced as it states under their warranty?

you seem to be hard at reading I keep stating multiple times I don't want a higher end replacement. I want one equal value or mine repaired not a gift card to equal the ratio to win the was purchased 31 years ago.

Naw, I read your bs just fine. They offered you $75 for a $50 knife (a free hand-me-down to you). It is a weak scam and I am glad your attempt failed.

Bingo!
To take it a step further.......in future dealings try to remember you are dealing with a real live person.
Not to be a smart ass, but how old are you??

I knew the person was real and live. And I'm old enough to not go further into going off topic and feeding your personal agenda.

My reading is fine. Did they not offer you a replacement in the form of $75?

You were attempting to leverage negative publicity in exchange for more free money or goods. You are correct, that is not a threat, it is blackmail.

Bright? Unlikely. Reasonable? That depends on whether the facts are as stated.

Blackmail? Absolutely not. Nor kidnapping or extortion.

No, they did not. They offered something other than a replacement in a rationale effort to negotiate out of the trap their own warranty created: repair or replacement.

You all seem focused on the lack of courtesy of the OP - going off before the other rep of Benchmade has had a chance to respond.

What do you feel would make an adequate replacement?

Something with a present market value equal to that of the warrantied goods, adjusted for inflation. That's about $105 if you believe the government. http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

Of course, the owner, not the OP, is the offended party and the owner has to prove (not merely assert) that he bought the knife personally.

Adequate replacement to me is another benchmade balisong equal to mine. Customer service said they won't replace because what they have isn't comparable to mine.

I just want a working benchmade balisong

Which are all $250 plus on their website. Since they have nothing comparable, what you would you consider as an alternative?

So you are not the original owner. It was his and now it's yours.

You have a 50$ Bm knife that dosent work after 31 years they offered you 75 dollars or 30 percent off for a 31 year old knife?you want a equal knife which they don't have. so are you saying your broke 31 year old Bm didn't depreciat cause it did, it was a user or it wouldn't be broken. So now we are left with a kid that wants a freebie because on a 50$ Bm 31 yrs later that you don't want that broke because it's used you don't want 75$, you want more I call bs I hope they don't give you a dime for this bs.

The knife was under my dad's credentials. The knife has already been serviced and issued gift certificate.

Anyone know what their warranty was like in 1985?

If it is different, would the warranty when purchased apply or the current warranty?

My pleasure GB!! It seems he found a way to get that knife without paying for it after all!!
Ugh
I want something that I can't afford.......if I kick and scream and maybe cry enough.....I'll get it!!
Puleeeze!!
